Search on You Tube “24hr rod race Matt Hayes” it the 19th June clip by Jonathan Chappell and give an introduction on Matt Hayes brace of 37’s at The Sitch, it will be out on TV soon
The Sitch is a naturally formed breath taking 26 acre estate lake, surrounded by mature dense woodland that boasts a spectacular variety of trees, and is home to a diverse range of wildlife.
The fishery has 20 purpose built pegs, some are situated in the woodland and others on purpose built platforms set out on the lakeside amongst the reed and sedges.
The lake is stocked with 450 young monument strain carp. These fish range from 12lb – 30lb and are growing at a healthy rate, with the number of 20’s increasing each month! There are also a number of 30lb fish with the lake record currently standing at 38lb +. On top of the current stock we also adopt an on going year on year stocking policy with a view to improving on the high end fish we have exceeding 30lb.
The future looks promising for the Sitch as the fish continue to grow. With 450 fish multiple catches are a common place, these fish really respond to heavy baiting tactics and with depth’s not exceeding 4ft you are never too far away from your target.
Syndicate
The Sitch is run as a syndicate from June to March and is a great way to start your fishing carrier on an R H Fisheries syndicate water. Joining the Sitch couldn’t be simpler, just pick up the phone and contact Ed on 07779257812
Open Access
Through the months of April and May we operate an open access policy, we sell the lake exclusively from Sat- Sat for groups of upto 12 anglers. With 26 acres of water to target and 20 well spaced swims, there loads of room (we will consider groups of 6 for half the fishery)
Call Alex on 01952-463141 for more details.
Open Access 15/1
We have had a last minute cancellation on Weston Park for the open access on the 21-28th April. If you fancy a go on this spectacular looking 12 acre estate lake in the private grounds of Weston park then phone us on 01952 463141.
Open access is for group bookings of upto 8 anglers, and the lake has 13 well-spaced swims. The biggest plus about Weston is the spectacular grade 2 listed sand stone boathouse that's is included with full lake open access bookings.
Visit the Weston site to see pictures of the boathouse
The lake holds 204 stunning carp with a new lake record common weighing 39-15, there is a big head of 30's in Weston and a average weight of 25+, they are boilie eaters, and very catchable, as they love the boilies which produce all year round.
If you want to find out more, then call us on 01952-463141 or mail us at info@rhfisheries .com
Lower Lake Open Access 6/12
We have decided on some of the dates on the open access (lower lake only) to allow anglers to book in pairs or by themselves, rather then to book a group of upto six. The two dates so far are as follows 14th- 21st April and 12th-19th May and the cost will be £300 each, to confirm the pegs a deposit will be required of £50. There will be a maximum of 6 six anglers on at once, but could be less depending on bookings and as the lake is around 7 acres there is plenty of room to fish.
The lower lake is a beautiful lake, overlooked by a stunning small castle (folly), the lake is home to the biggest fish on the complex, a 51-00 lb common called "bill " last caught in may at 51-00 by Simon crow. The lake also holds 20 other originals that are all over 30 lb and five of them are over 40lb, there are also 42 young fish which are now mid doubles. The lake has 9 excellent swims which are well spaced out.
To find out more and check availability call us on 01952-463141 or email info@rhfisheries.com
Weston Boathouse 6/12
The Boathouse has again proven very popular this year with very few
places left, however in March we have a winner from carp-talk fishing
on the 9th-11th, which means we have 2 short weeks either side of the
weekend. If you fancy fishing either one of these dates at a reduce rate,
on the 3rd- 9th march or the 12th – 17th March then please phone us on
01952 463141.
Update 24/11/11
Hello chaps! Unfortunately I have got to cancel the
netting on dec 3rd! Due to other commitments. I'am
also writing to you all to advise the above, but
when we set a new date I will post it on the site,
rather than send another letter out to everyone.
Cheers

Catch Report
Once again with the top lake fishing very hard, it has been the bottom lake doing the business. This time it was Darren Oultram fishing the dam island and landed two stunners weighing 35-00 and 43-00. The 43-00 being a new 40 for the lower lake, which shows the increased boilies going in is improving the weight gains. There are now fifteen big 30’s, five 40’s and the big common present in the lower lake, together with 42 young fish, which are now upto 16lb in weight, and they are absolute stunners.
We have two weeks only left on the lower lake open access for next year, so if you fancy a crack at these wonderful old fish the please call us on 01952-463141

Well it’s been a hard few weeks over at Acton, with just the odd fish being caught at the moment. Martin Baker has been catching a couple, on his last two session he has had a 39-00 and a 38-08 mirror.
Will still have a number of spaces available on the lower lake and weston during "open access"
Report
The fishing has become hard over at Acton but there are still a few fish being caught, I reported about Stuart Edwards in the last report, he manage one for the week but what a fish, a stunning 44-02 mirror testing a new mainline bait. Dave Hyne continues his good run of form on the lower lake, with a 39lb 8oz mirror. I’ve just had a report from the top lake from Darren Davies who has just had a 40-04 mirror, well down fella. As for my session, well I was the latest victim to blank, despite being very close to fish showing on my one spot for 3 days!! Me and Stuart both had fish showing in front but no runs to show for effort so maybe next time…
Report
Stu Edwards is on his yearly week trip and has bag himself a 44-00 mirror so far with hopefully more to follow as his only two days into his session. We allow each Acton member to book a week session during the season if they wish, as many members now choose to have a week at Acton rather the travel to France.
The open access are very popular but we’ve still got a few place left on the lower lake, I’ve got my first three day session on there this week so I will update you when I’m back. For Sale

NEW FISHERY MANAGER
After over 7 1/2 years of loyal service, Sam Anslow has decided to move onto pastures new! I would like to thank Sam for the contribution he has made to RH fisheries over the years, and wish him all the best in the future.
I'am also delighted to announce the appointment of Alex lister who will be joining RH fisheries as "fisheries manager" on sept 3rd. Alex has studied fishery management, and is also a keen carp angler himself. Alex will be based at the monument, but will also help manage all our syndicate waters.
I have plans to make sure the monument produces even bigger fish in the future, and continues to improve the service provided to the anglers RH
23rd August
Stuart Edwards had and outstanding session fishing the pot bed swim, he turned up and jumped into that swim as the forecast was for the wind to change and blow into that corner however after 2 days of no action he was just about to move when he caught his first fish. What followed was a mad 30hr spell in which he landed 7 fish averaging over 36lb.
Check this out 34-10, 38-02, 38-04, 42-06, 33-10, 35-04, 35-02.
Stu used a new mainline bait and used 7 kgs of boilies to hold the fish. Acton big lake is home to over 25 different 40’s and a big head of 30’s if you want to book a week in April / May 2012 give us a call on 01952 463141.
Or the lower lake home to a 50lb+ common and 4 x 40’s mirrors and 18 big 30’s a great challenge for the serious carper these big old fish are in immaculate condition.
9th August
Acton has been fishing slow and hard for most anglers, although there has been a stunning capture of 8 fish. 5 over 30lb 4 of which were over the 35lb mark an incredible session even when the water is fishing well.
Rob Leverton the angler who had the incredible haul fished the pot bed swim and went through 7kg of SBS Phaze 1 boilie which at the minute seems to be catching everywhere its taken. Rob also told us that he ran out of bait really the last night and was only very lightly baiting with 20 or so baits he said he felt that if he had had another 2 or 3kg of bait he could of caught a lot more fish!
Robs full list of the fish he caught is as follows 3 x 20’s 3 x 30’s a 30-00, 35-04 and a 36-04 and 2 x 40’s a 41-00 common and a 42-08.
CARP FOR SALE
RH fisheries will be selling approx 20 magnificent 6 year old fish this winter weighing between 16lb and 24lb with the majority being over 20lb. If you are interested call us on 01952-463141
25th July
The big lake and the lower lake both produced more stunners again last week and as you will see if you visit our RH fisheries website they are nearly always different fish as there is such a big head of 40’s in Acton.
Firstly down on the lower lake Nick Jones landed one of the jewels at 44-08 when he caught the Dave Moore fish from the shallows.
Also encouraging news down on the lower lake is the stockies are being caught at upto 15-08, which is pretty impressive as the biggest was 6lb last year.
Up on the big lake Luke Edwards landed a stunning Male mirror at 44-02 from the conker a fish I call the Matt Hayes fish as Matt caught the fish some years back whilst filming at Acton when he weighed 39-00.
On September 1st we will be taking open access group bookings for Acton so call us on 01952 463141 if you are interested in fishing Acton.
2012 Bookings
Bookings for the monument for 2012 will be taken from the 1st September from 8:30am
12th July
The 2 biggest commons at Acton were both, landed this week.
Firstly up on the top lake Dean Fierro landed the pretty common at 48-06 and down on the lower lake bill has been on the munch being landed twice one of which was by Matt Law at 51-07.
We have a few weeks available during open access next April / May on the lower lake if you are interested call 01952 463141
Spawning
The fish seem tohave had a go at spawning yesterday, last night in both lakes but are now more likely to stop than carry on. So both lakes will remain open.
LOW WATER
Due to water level in shallow margin swims please make sure you are organised when you land a fish with plenty of water on the bank and please get the fish back ASAP!
Thigh waders are allowed ( NOT chest waders)
28th June
It is the lower lake that takes some of the limelight this time with top carper terry stock landing another 3 originals weighing 38-02 31-15 and 40-06. whilst terry kindly sends us the pics , we don’t get tactical info from acton boys. I know he is a mainline man and the rest is just good angling as even with just 20 original fish terry consistently catches. He also landed 12 stockies.
Up on the top lake it was business as usual with more 40’s being landed dean Watson from total angling landed a 43-00 on his first visit from the 1st bay swim also SBS man Rob Leverton landed a 43-12 mirror from the pot bed swim on the Phaze 1
We are now taking bookings for open access for 2012 although the big lake is already fully booked for 2012 but we are keeping a waiting list in case of any cancellations
15th June
An Amazing catch was taken last week by Steve Powell who fished the big lake and landed 6 fish which included 2 fish over 45lb 46-02 and a 47-10 truly incredible fishing. Steve fished the steps swim and landed a couple of the fish and saw that the angler in the conker was having to leave with a lot of fish in front of him so he packed up and moved into the conker to land another 4 fish. Steve simply cast just short of where the fish where showing which was only about 30yds out and just kept a trickle of bait going in scattering 50 or so baits out each fish.
The big lake surely holds the biggest head of 40’s in any one lake in the UK.
The 17 acre big lake holds in excess of 25 different 40’s and a huge head of 30’s
You can get on during open access next spring for groups of upto 8 anglers call us on 01952 643141
Also last week new member Darren Davies landed his first acton carp weighing 43-00 and bailiff Chris Lowe got amongst then with 2 x 28’s
Down on the lower lake one of our old jewels was landed at 43-06by Matt Law when he caught the Dave Moore fish.
1st June
Acton was fishing steady and was due a big week, and it delivered when the Somerset boys turned up for a return visit, landing 27 fish including six 40's. Team leader Gordon love day landed the biggest with a 46-14 mirror from the bay swim, closely followed by andy frost in the conked who landed six fish weighing 46-10,42-08 c ,40-08c, 39-04c 34-10 m and 23-12 m. Joe Baldwin fished the pot bed and landed seven fish weighing 45-04m,39-09m 35-08 m, 34-00 c, 27-04 m, 27-08 m and a 26-12 m, interestingly Joe kept his lines out for long periods allowing the carp to get confident on the bait, it certainly worked. All seven anglers on the trip caught fish, and Gordon said " thanks for a outstanding weeks fishing on your incredible Acton big lake"
17th May
Simon Crow has been fishing hard this last week as he and Steve Briggs fished a session on the lower lake and caught a few stockies and a 33 and the most sought after fish in Acton, Bill the common at a great weight of 51-00. Fishing the field swims and fishing across to the opposite bank.
10th May
Simon Crow and Steve Briggs are 2 days in to a week long session on the lower lake and have already landed a few stockies a 33-00 and last night Simon Crow landed the big girl at 51-00! Pics to follow shortly
3rd May
It was the Dave Roberts crowd this week on the big lake and they landed 13 fish during the week upto 43-15 top rod was Dave Doubleday who fished the 1st bay swim and landed a 25-00 33-12 37-05 and the 43-15. Top angling as they come in very close in the bay swims and stealth is the key to success
Down in the reeds Ian Rimmer landed 3 fish 25-08 30-08 and a 42-02. Neil Davies also landed 3 fish from sandy point weighing 20-05 22-14 and 32-00.
Trip leader Dave Roberts moved onto the lower lake mid week and landed a couple of stockies and a 34-00.
All the lads on the trip used Bandit baits mulberry squid boilies.
Old time carper and midlands legend Baz Griffiths is currently in session on the lower lake so we will let you know how he gets on next time.
Sad Loss
During the last 2 weeks we have sadly lost 2 of the old girls! A 34-00 and cluster!
She was the only 1 of the now 21 originals left not caught since august.
I believe the sudden rise in temperature for this time of the year has taken its toll on the old girls, I am sure one of the other 40's will move up to replace her!
RH
15th April
There has been an amazing 12x40s off in 11 days from acton, by monday all 12 will be on the pic gallery and there will be articles in Angling Times and Carptalk next.
5th April
Acton has switched on, and when it does the catches can be incredible! In a 24 hr period at the weekend 12 fish were landed from the big lake including three 40's. Top rod was Phil Doorbar who landed 6 fish upto 44-02 together with a 38-10 common and other mirrors upto 35+, Phil fished the oak swim and caught the fish at 60 yds range introducing 4 kilos of boilies during his session. Down the other end of the lake John weir landed a 41-08 m from the steps and Stuart Edwards landed a 41-06 common from the sandy point. And in the middle of the lake rob lever ton fished the conked and landed a 35+ mirror. That's the magic of Acton, even in such good conditions there were only five anglers on 17 acres of water and just two on the lower lake. We have had a cancellation for one week in may for a group of upto eight anglers, call us on 01952-463141 if your interested.
22nd March
Its big fish everywhere this week as Nick Jones has had another great session after his 5 fish haul the other week he has been back on a landed another 40, 40-08 to be exact. Not only was it a 40 but also a new 40 at that as it was last caught last year weighing 39lbs.
18th March
Syndiate members please note that as from today there will be heavy plant working on the lower lake dam to carry out repair work in accordance with the reservoirs act.
Please note this will not affect the fishing only the lowrer lake dam
15th March
Nick smith has done it again, after his big haul the other week he has been back up acton and this time landed a 40 and a new one at that as the fish was last caught last year at 39.
pics to follow soon

Acton Switches on !
Earlier in the week Chris Lowe caught a cracking 37-08 but it was bcsg member Nick Jones who arrived Friday. Nick takes up the story:-
I arrived on Friday, mid-afternoon, and set up in the generally unfancied willow swim. I fished all 3 rods close in. 7.45 am the following morning I had a 31.3 lb starburst mirror on the right hand rod followed quickly by a 22 lb fully scaled mirror on the middle rod. Just after the photos had been taken the left hand rod burst into life and I played in a giant mirror - 47.2 lb. I was totally stunned by what had happened but quickly re-cast all 3 rods with the same number of New Grange mixed size boilies scattered around the hookbaits as I had done on arrival. Very quickly the left hand rod went again and after a heavy fight I played in the Attwell Mirror at 41.8 lb. Fortunately Ian and Steve were still assisting with photography and weighing duties! We put the fish back and I recast as my able assistants started to walk back towards their swims. Less than minute later my left hand rod went again resulting in the original half-linear at 27.12 lb. All this happened within a mad 2 1/2 hours.
I stayed put until Sunday morning but I knew the fish would have moved on but not too far as the water temp was low, so I moved to the Reeds on a hunch. I put all 3 rods out as before and waited for 'bite time' on Monday morning. At 6.30am I was rewarded with another giant from the depths - the Little Dollop at 38.8 lb. I left at 10am and Bob Tapken moved in behind me.
15th February
We have finally had the first fish of the year up at Acton , and they have been caught on the big lake by Stuart Edwards who had a 30-04 mirror from the African tree and nick jones who landed a 39-04 from the pot bed swim, and interestingly nick said that although he hadn't caught the fish before he remembers photographing her some years earlier as a upper 20!
Open Access cancelation
We have a cancelation for the open access on the top lake at acton for the 7th - 14th May if you wish to book this please call us asap on 01952 463141
Ice Update
We are hoping that the lakes will be fishable by monday 3rd if this weather stays warm for us
20th December
Every year RH Fisheries receives hundreds of new applications from anglers wanting to join our fisheries, so with everything very quiet at the moment we thought we would tell you a little about our waters, and how we operate our waiting lists. firstly we ask you to write to rob hales at the badger hall address, as detailed on the website(www.rhfisheries.com), rob then writes back to every applicant acknowledging there letter and informing them they are on the waiting list, and when we will be back in touch. The first places go to applicants who have been recommended by a existing member, we also allow our current members to move from one water to another within our group of fisheries, which surprisingly happens quite a lot, then the remaining places are offered to new applicants on the waiting list, we will update you whether successful or not, so you can plan your season, it is impossible for us to put a exact time on each waiting list as it is purely dependent on the amount of places that become available in any one year! However even if your second choice water becomes available it would almost guarantee you a place in preferred syndicate the following season.
Weston park
We receive more applications for Weston than any of our waters, probably because the lake is so beautiful and private, located in the private grounds of a stately home.
Size: Weston is 12acres with 13 swims 10 of which are open to the syndicate.
Stock: there are 204 fish present of which 180 are over 20lb with the best fish landed in 2010 weighing 37-14 which was a common, there are plenty of other 30's with most of the bigger ones being commons,35-08 being the best mirror in 2010. The average size of the fish is now about 25lb and steadily growing every year.
Rating: Weston is a easy water, as the fish love boilies, and they consistently out fish all other baits, they also love the floaters, but are a little more tricky to catch on the surface.Future: the fish are young and still growing well we carry out a drain down and de-stocking every couple of years to control the biomass of other fish and young carp. So Weston is set to keep improving.
Acton burnell
Currently our best water for the monsters! There are two stunning lakes at Acton which are only separated by a dam, the big lake is the lake featured in the wonderful new fishing DVD/programme "catching the impossible" with Martin bowler.
Size: there are two lakes the big lake, which is 17 acres, and the lower lake being 7 acres.
Stock: the big lake holds approx 120 fish of which there are 21 different 40's of which four are commons upto 48-12 being the best in 2010 and 49-04 the best mirror, the average weight being well over 30lb.The lower lake holds 23 original fish of which 5 have been caught over 40lb this year upto 48 lb with the big common recently landed at 51 lb, her best weight being 53-08 which is the lake record, the average weight being 36 lb, also there are a further 42 stockies weighing between 8 - 14 lb which have huge potential.
Rating: the big lake is difficult and is fished by lots of very good carp anglers, the lower lake is very difficult as these lovely old fish have seen it all, but they are stunning.
Future: there is an amazing head of big fish in the big lake, and the fishery is well balanced with these wonderful old fish still steadily growing, and in mint condition thanks to the handling of fish by the syndicate. A few 50's imminent! We now have 42 mega quality young fish in the lower lake to compliment the beautiful23 originals and to ensure there are quality young fish coming through which will also take the pressure of the old girls.
The Monument
Open to everyone on a 36 hr session ticket, not a syndicate! Probably the highest stocking density of 30's per acre in the uk! Also boasts four 40's and a lake record of 49-00lb. There are over 100 different 30's in the monument amongst a stock of 300 fish! The average weight last winter was 27 lb. However alot of quality anglers visit the monument and they have seen it all, ad to that the angling pressure and it is tricky water, but mega catches are always possible! Eg in a 36 hr session in 2010 sixteen different 30's were landed. To book on the monument call 01952-463141
The avenue
Our fishery with the greatest potential to produce a monster, located in the private grounds of robs home in Shropshire.Size: 10.2 acres in size with a average depth of six feet, with 17 swims.Stock: at present there 204 carp in the lake, but to ensure the continued growth of the best fish we will de-stock every year! In only it's second year we are Planning to remove 30 big doubles/ low 20's. The lake record is already 49-08 a fish that has gained 13-08 lb in less than two seasons! Also a fish known as "the little rhino" went from 23-00lb to 38-10lb in 23 months and has only been landed once. Most of the best fish are the big 30's coming through, and many still haven't been caught.Rating: moderate but starting to become harder as the fish wise up, and the head of fish reduces! Most fish only visited the bank once all season, and over thirty are yet to be landed.Future: very exciting with massive potential, with the management of the fishery purely focused on growing the biggest carp possible. The syndicate only use freezer boilies and pellets to ensure the carp get the best possible food. The avenue will produce huge fish in the future.
The Sitch
Our most recent water, that we took over in 2008 and another carp anglers dream! A naturally formed lake .Size: a large beautifully shaped 26 acre shallow fishery, with 21 well spaced swims.
Stock: created as a runs water with 420 fish present in the 10-24 lb bracket and a few bigger fish unto 35 lb which is a common. These fish are young and mega quality and growing fast.
Rating: the sitch is in it's infancy, but already showing signs that it will become a very special fishery over the next few years, we are already seeing lots of 20's coming through, and these fish are monument babies with great potential. we also plan to introduce some new 30's every winter, this year we have ear marked some cracking young mirrors in the 30 - 34 lb bracket. if you are after action with a chance of a 30 then the sitch is the water for you, and it won't be long before it produces some biggies.
Matt Hayes 25th - 27th April 2011
A chance to fish with matt hayes for a 3 day session on the sitch
Matt Hayes has booked the sitch for 3 days during the closed season so it is a unique chance to both catch plenty of cracking fish and to fish with Matt Hayes for a few days if you are interested visit:

26th November
Dave Chancellor has again managed to catch from the mega hard lower lake This fish was his 16th different original carp this year and 19th overall.
All the fish in the lower lake seem to be well up in weight this year, which may be something to do with the 110 kilo’s of bait that he has got through! All fish have come at close range on spots that have regularly seen bait. Light leads, small hooks and longish hook-lengths have done the business with the best edge being a washed out looking hook bait.
9th November
Another week ad another biggie this time however it was the lower lake and the big common known as bill was landed at 50-12 by Phil Doorbar, who also landed a two tone mirror at 35-02
As phil has already landed Bill in 2008 at a bigger weight he decided in the best interests of the fish not to photograph her, his care for the fish is hugely appreciated.
The lower lake now holds 23 original fish of which there is 1x 50, 6 x 40’s and the rest are 30’s together with 40 low doubles which are the future of the fishery, we still have 2 weeks available for our open access period next may on the lower lake for groups of upto 6 anglers. So if you want to fish for these mega fish in stunning surroundings give us a call on 01952 463141
2nd November
Both lakes seem to be fishing well at the moment, Dave chancellor has had a great season on the lower lake landing 19 different fish this season which is pretty impressive as there are only 23 original fish in the lake together with 40 young fish for the future.
Up on the big lake we have had another couple of whackers caught!
Bob Tapken caught a stunning 41-12 mirror which I haven’t seen out for years in fact the last pic on the web of this was Les Watts 3 years ago.
Also Terry Stock was back on the big lake for a short session and landed a beautiful 46-08 from sandy point on the cell.
26th October
Lee Partington has had a cracking session last week landing not 1 but 2 of the most elusive fish from the bottom lake. The brace of fish a 38-02 and a 46-06 know as cluster were caught from one of the field swims but as always with any captures from the lower lake on Acton especially the anglers never give much detail as the have to keep their little edges to themselves.
Maize
We are cooking fresh maize every week at the monumet to feed into the fishery on wednesdays and sell to the anglers.
So you can buy it fresh for £3 for 2kgs
Anglers visiting Weston, Acton or the sitch can call to pre order
19th October
Fairly quiet also up at Acton although once again another biggie was landed by Mark Randal from the big lake at 41-03 this is one of the big fish that rarely gets caught.
12th October
Only 3 runs apparently this week at Acton however as usual 1 was a cracker this tie it was Stu Edwards fishing his week session in the conker tree swim. Stu landed a beautiful chunky fish weighing 46-08 on the cell.
An important tip for all anglers around the country when they land these big old fish is to give them time to recover in the landing net i.e. 5 minutes before the fish is taken out of the water to be weighed and photographed. This 5 minutes is vital as they are often exhausted after being landed and they need time to recover.
There are several big 40’s in Acton now so we hope a few will pass 50lb this winter!!
5th October 2010
Chris Lowe has had a great session last week on the SBS Fruit and Nut landing 2 fish both 30’s a 31-10 and a 35-08 as always with Acton I‘m sure more fish than this have been caught but guys hold off from telling us as the conditions for fishing the last week has been fantastic.
30th September
We mentioned Stuart Chabior brace of 40s last week so we have enclosed a pic of his 46-08 which he had in conjunction with a 44-00
Also amongst the biggies again this week was Rob Leverton who landed a 44-08 using the SBS Fruit and Nut fishing from sandy point.
The lower lake has also been producing the goods with Matt Law landing a few cracking fish weighing 29-08 36-00 and 43-06.
21st September
The big lake continues to produce 40’s every week Stuart Chabior followed up the reported 44 last week with a 46-08 from the conker during his week session as we allow each member to book a 1 week session each year should they wish to do so.
Also Mark Randall landed a 43-12 mirror from the African tree swim.
Down on the lower lake a group of anglers now seem to be concentrating their efforts for the big girls and I believe a few are being caught on the quiet.
Neil Smith of Total Carp has just visited Acton for a feature so keep an eye on the November issue.
14th September
Acton the 40’s Factory has done it again with Stuart Chabior Landing a 44-00 from the Conker swim. Also Luke Edwards Landed a 37-00 from the Reeds swims after seeing a fish roll down to his left he put a bait on it that evening and had the take first thing the next morning.
The lower lake has also been producing well with Dave Chancellor landing 2 fish on his last visit although unfortunately I am not sure how big. However as the average size on the lower lake is mid 30’s they should both be very good fish!
7th Septemebr
After Dave chancellors run of biggies on the bottom lake its gone quiet down there now, although I do know Dave has been quietly catching this season having now landed 9 fish.
Up on the big lake Rob Leverton has caught a couple of stunners weighing 39-08 and also had a 34-12 the other week. Rob is a S.B.S. field tester and was using the SBS Fruit and Nut.
Rob Has asked us to convey his thanks to Des and Andy at SBS for all their support!
31st August
At last it was the turn of the lower lake , when Dave chancellor was rewarded for his efforts this season with two cracking mirrors weighing 36 lb and 42lb but the one Dave was after was bill the big common which he landed at 48 lb . Dave has been fishing the lower lake regularly, baiting two swims known as the dam island and the big field, and I think bill was landed from the island swim. It is a magical lake with a average weight of 36 lb, if you fancy a crack at these wonderful old and clever fish then during our April/may 6 wk open access period you can book the lower lake per week for groups of 6 anglers, call us on 01952-463141 for more details.
24th August
The fishery has slowed up a little compared to last month but there still fantastic fish landed every week at acton, and this week Steve burgess made the long trip up fromplymouth and landed a nice mid thirty followed by a clonking 46-07mirror from the oak swim, top angling and well deserved.
Acton open access
During the last two weeks of April and the four weeks of may we open the lakes toexclusive whole lake bookings! The big lake has already sold out for 2011 but we stillhave 3 weeks left on the lower lake for groups of unto 6 anglers if you fancy a chanceof a biggie as the lake holds a 50+ common and mirrors unto 48. Call you on 01952
17th August
Its been a slow week again on Acton with only 3 fish to my knowledge being landed, I am unsure of the size of the 1 fish but the over 2 were caught by Steve Burgess and weighed 32-00 and 46-07. This just shows you what an awesome head of big fish Acton has that when only 3 fish are landed 2 of which are 30lb+ 1 of which is a 40.Steve’s tactics were to fish just for single bites as he knew the water wasn’t fishing to well so he simply fished 10 bait stringers.
10th August
Its been fishing hard this week on Acton but there have still been some captures of some big fish. Steve Powell has been on again and landed a 38-12 mirror and Nick Jones had 2 a 38-04 and a 41-08. Acton is a one in a million place even when its fishing hard and the fish seem to have shut up shop it still produces 40’s!
3rd August
Andy Mulholland has had a great couple of sessions recently after having every single bit of fishing tackle stolen from his garage and having to beg of his friends his fishing has gone from strength to strength a couple of weeks ago he landed 4 fish up to 38-00 the 38 being a new Pb common. Then just last week he dropped in sandy point and had 2 fish a 27-04 and a cracking 47-08. The 47-08 can with in just 2 hours of his casting in. His tactics were a cell boilie with 80 – 100 freebies scattered around cast where he had seen fish showing as he walked around deciding upon a swim.
20th July
This place seems to just keep giving us 40’s earlier in the week John Wier had a 43-02 from the pot bed swim as although the fish were showing the other end of the lake John had seen the forecast and knew the wind was about to turn so set his traps and waited for the wind to swing which it did that evening and he saw a couple of fish roll and at first light had the fish. John’s traps were half a kg of Alpha baits boilies with a simple bottom bait over the top. Another angler that got amongst the fish was Steve Powell who had 3 fish 35-06, 36-10 and a 44-00 Steve Also fished just beds of boilies at around 40yds range from the Oak swim to tempt these fish 2 of which he landed whilst he was packing up!
Mega new French venue
Only new because it has only been discovered by English anglers this year the lake is a stunning/ mature 25 acre lake located 40mins south of Limoges.
The lake is called “Lac de ribierre” and is French owned by Michel Bonneau
Ribierre holds approx 600 fish, which are growing extremely fast and the current 2010 lake record is 35.6khgs which is about 80-01lb.
There are a number of other huge fish in the 60-70lb bracket with the bulk of the fish in the 30-45lb bracket. so whilst you have a realistic chance of a monster you can expect plenty of action.
The lake is fished from one side only to prevent over casting which makes the fishing more pleasurable, The swims are gently sloping grass banks with mature trees.
The far margin is a productive area and bait boats are allowed ( not rowing boats) the far margin distance ranges from 100yds to 130yds dependant on the swim.
There are 11 swims
I visited the lake in June and was 2 days into a very enjoyable session when a freak rain storm hit the region and we had to pull off( We had already caught 14 fish to 40lbs) I have rebooked for 2011 and I am taking several friends / journalists to promote ribierre so expect it to be well known by Christmas 2011.
Dave and Phil who travelled with me have already rebooked for this September and next year. We will let you know how they get on.
Ribierre offers both bivy fishing March -end May and Sept – mid Nov. All year round you can book a luxury Gite/cottage suitable for 4/6 persons. However carp anglers can only fish Ribierre in June, July and Aug if you book a Gite as this is Michel’s priority income. From 15th june to end august no lake exclusive bookings and for the rest of the year any whole lake bookings must include minimum of one gite as this is the complexs main business
Detailed below is how to book!
Contact Paul Armfield
Tel: 07836 751753
Email: bathagent@googlemail.com
Cost: 380 euro’s per angler per week!
Paul has amazing pics of the ribierre monsters, which he will gladly email you.
I am helping promote Ribierre because it is a superb venue and my friend Paul Armfield is the exclusive UK booking agent for this fantastic fishery.
You can only book Ribierre via Paul Armfield
Also as many of my syndicate members have already booked Ribierre I have secured a “one week” booking window for any RH Fisheries syndicate members prior to the book opening for 2012.
P.S. This venue has a realistic chance of producing a world record!!
Regards RH
13th July
The 40’s factory is what the big lake should be called as it produces 40’s every week and we have had a couple of new 40’s caught recently as well. The big lake holds a huge head of 40lb+ fish both commons and mirror.
Mr Magic Terry Stock broke the big lake record recently with a 48-12 fish, which would certainly have been the first 50lb, had he caught her in May.
This week it was Deano who fished an over nighter session and landed a brace of stunners from the pot bed weighing 39-10 and 42-04. Cracking pic of the 42-04 which is a big male known as the Matt Hayes fish, as Matt caught him on a floater many years ago whilst filming at Acton. All quiet on the lower lake at the moment, however when it has been quiet it can often be better chance of a biggie than the top lake.
6th July
There has been a steady few anglers on Acton this week and most seemed to have caught 1 or 2 fish with Mark Randall and Stuart Edwards managing to get amongst some of the bigger girls. Mark had 2 fish 34-02 and a 36-04 from the pot bed swim. Stuart who is a new member managed to bag himself his first fish out of Acton from the steps swim in the form of a 26-08 and a 36-00.
1st July
The top lake record common has been caught by Terry Stock at 48-12 pics to follow soon.

29th June
Its been Acton magic again this week after terry stock caught the reeves mirror at 48-11 which hasn’t been landed for 2 and a half years last week This week Terry or as Rob has now named him Mr magic has just landed a 48-12 common from the big lake more info in next weeks.
Dean Fierro banked a couple of crackers weighing 42-00 and 33-00 from the bay swim using Dennis Mcfetrick bait.
We also have the full story now of Anthony O’Brien’s much sought after “Bill” from the pontoon after placing his rig over a bed of activ-8 boilies in a clear patch that he found amongst the weed Anthony banked the biggie at 2am.
Open Access 2011
We have only 3 weeks free for our open access for all of our waters for next April and May. The lower lake although tricky does seem to produce the sought after “Bill” during this time so if groups of up to 6 anglers want a crack at a stunning but very hard water with fish to 50lb+ then give us a call on 01952 463141.
22nd June
I have just been told that Terry Stock has landed a 48-11 which i believe is the Ade Reeves fish whiuch hasnt been caught for over 2years and was last seen in the netting 2 winters ago. Terry also had a 37 pics to follow.
Also the atwell male which hasnt been caught for at least 2years, last caught from the bay swim by Chris Lowe has also been out at 39-10.
21st June
There have been a few good fish off this week however as always Acton is difficult to get all the info. On the top lake there has beena 46-00c from the Conker a 39-12 from the African a 38-08 and a 26-08 from the pot bed and a 29-02 but I’m unsure from which swim.
On the lower lake we have heard that the Big common known as Bill but again not sure on all details we are hoping to have them for you next week or check our website www.rhfisheries.com for pictures and updated info.
15th June
I don’t always get to hear of all fish that come off Acton so the conditions the way they were last week I’m sure more than what I have learnt of have come off. But I know of Mark Randall doing the business on the top lake again landing a 38-00 and Luke Edwards who has just pulled off after not only earlier in the week catching a 30 out of Weston has now gone one better and landed a 40-08 mirror out of the pot bed swim on the top lake.
Down on the lower lake Andy Boaz has worked his magic again and landed a 31-08 during a quick over night session.
Acton on Tv
Catching the impossible will be on channel 4 from Sunday 13th June 7am and the Acton episode is on Sunday 25th July
Mega week available in the Boathouse at Weston
13th - 20th June
Last week the boathouse produced 26 runs 21 fish upto 29-12 for Gary Leek see wetson pic gallery. Please call us on 01952 463141 if you are interested in this week.
1st June
Its all about the lower lake this week for a change, when a group of 3 anglers led by Scott Lloyd from Coventry, took on the challenge of the lower lake as a 40th treat.
I have to say top angling to Scott as he caught a 32-00 and a 42-05 off the surface. Now syndicate members may correct me but as far as I am aware these are the first fish I can ever remember being caught off the surface. Scott got them taking cautiously in the shallows where he landed both fish. He also landed a 33-00 and a 34-00 from the dam swim using his home made tiger nut and hemp 20mm boilies.
His partners on the trip Steve and Tony also managed to land a fish each.
Steve landed a 36-00 from the little field and Tony had a last ditch take on the final morning having fished hard all week with a 30-06 from the dam island, both there fish fell to cell boilies.
25th May
The lower lake first as carp talk competition winner Glen Dewitt turned up on the ultra hard lower lake excited and confident and fished alongside Chris and Angie Lowe and they shared a couple of very enjoyable days in the sun and Glen fished very well. Landing 2 fish a 28-08 and a personal best 34-08.
Chris also landed a stunning 42-10. It shows if you enter a Carp Talk/RHF competition you could be fishing for these mega fish.
Up on the big lake it was a group of lads from Somerset, led by Gordon Loveday. They had a great week despite the hot weather landing 13 fish including 4 x 40’s of which 1 was a common weighing 48-07 by Francis Pavey fishing the conker who also landed a 43-02.
But it was Gordon himself who had an awesome 9 fish catch from the 2nd bay swim. Gordon fished close at 20/40yds range kept very quiet and used 1oz leads and slack lines to tempt 2 x 40’s weighing 42-03 and 42-00 together with 4x 30’s and 3 others.
Gordon fished scatterings of cell boilies.
What a catch and what a great bunch of guys. Andy frost in the pot bed also had a 26-00 and Kevin hillier in the oak had a 34-09
11th May
Once again the cold north winds affected the catches as some of the original syndicate members returned for a week including Ken Richards who landed a 39-12 from the conker Steve Edge landed a 27-00 from the oak and Digger landed a 43-00 from the pot bed. All fish were caught on Activ-8 boilies. Diwn on the lower lake four fish were landed the best a 38-02 caught by Ian Roberts from the big field swim, once again Cell boilies did the business.
4th May
The Ellesmere lads returned to Acton having had a mega week last year landing 8 x 40’s! I did warm them it was unlikely to happen again!
However when I popped up to se them on the Monday Danny Sweeney had broken the lake record with a fantastic 49-06 mirror! And Dave Roberts had caught the sought after cluster at 48-08 from the lower lake "Unbelievable" and they were only 2 days into a week session!
Whilst a number of the lads didn’t catch plenty did top rod was Danny Sweeney with 5 fish including a 41-12 38-08and 34-08. Also on the big lake Campbell Stewart landed a 43-00 common, Phil Morgan had a 36-00 mirror and Ian Rimmer had a 38-00 mirror. Down on the lower lake Dave Roberts landed another fish of 33-08. Whilst the man who made the bait for the trip Dave Doubleday fished the big field and landed 2 stunners at 33-14and 39-06. Dave supplied bandit baits mulberry & squid and cranberry & squid boilies to the lads that once again produced some mega fish.
27th April
The Plymouth boys came back and these boys can catch-em !
Although the fish were very active they were proving difficult to catch as always.
However Steve had the best catch with 3 fish from the oak upto 41-12.
Other fish to the group 25-04, 29-08, 35-06, 26-00, 40-12, 38-05, The 26-00 wa a stunning young fully scaled! These are coming back at the end of may we will let you know how they get on.
Already this week the big lake record has gone with a 49-06 and the lower lake has produced a 48-06 pics and details next week.
20th Apeil
It was a fantastic end to the season on both lakes the big lake produced 4 x 40’s of which 2 were commons.
Top rod was terry stock who landed 7 fish as follows 19-06c, 21-06m, 27-09m 30-00c, 30-04m, 37-04m, and a 42-12m. Terry fished the conker swim and spodded heavily to 2 spots at 70yds range and fished cell boilies over the top.
Other anglers amongst the 40’s were Andy Teague 42-06c, Phil Doorbar 42-00c, and Chris Griffiths 43-08m.
Our open access started Saturday and it’s the return of the Plymouth boys and they have already landed a 42-12m so will let you know how they end up next week.
13th April
Dave Cobb has landed "Bill" for the second time at 48-04 from the dam island swim together with a 32-10. Dave said that the last time he caught Bill she didn’t fight at al but this time really put upa great scrap, which lasted over 20 minutes.
Also down on the lower lake Andy Boaz landed a brace of 32-00 mirrors using Mainline boilies.
6th April
Anthony O’Brien has been doing well in the last 3 weeks he has had 3 visits and caught on all 3 occasions. He has landed a 27-08 common a 34-06 mirror and then his last session from the willow swim this weekend was his best as he landed a 36-08 and a new PB. Anthony put his success down to setting up in swims he felt the fish would pass through. As he believes that they were moving from the deeper water in the morning to warm in the shallow areas of the lake during the day then heading back to the deeper water again at night. His theory was definitely put to practice and proven right!
30th March 2010
Another week and another biggie!
They are certainly hard to catch but when they get caught the average weight is huge!
This time is was Bob Tapken with a stunning mirror weighing 41-15. I believe this is another fish to break the 40lb barrier, which means during 2009/10 we have had 24 different 40’s landed from the big lake, and there are many upper 30’s.
The open Access Availability
On 1 of our open access weeks that have been booked there has become a space available for the week 8th - 15th May if you are interested please contact Darren on 07745976066
23rd March
How many waters can you catch a 42-12 common and be upstaged in the same week.
Well that’s what’s happened to John Weir, not that it has dampened his week. John landed a well-deserved 42-12 common from the big lake fishing from the african tree swim using monster crab boilies over 2kg of freebies.
Then on Sunday I received a call from long standing carper Tony "The Stalker" Barwell to tell me he had landed the big lakes largest common at 46-12 from the shallows.
Tony only fishes day sessions and keeps mobile he was moving to another swim when he spotted a group of fish in the shallows. This is the same fish Martin Bowler caught whilst filming "catching the impossible"
Now the anglers are keeping track of the movements of the carp there are sure to be some more biggies to report next week.
16th March
Mr magic Dave ‘Sherpa’ Haughton has just landed yet another big fish from the lower lake at Acton. The big mirror weighed 43-07 and I think the fish was "cluster" which was the fish Dave badly wanted to catch to complete the full list of fish that reside in the lower lake.
Dave continued his success by using mainline 12mm Activ-8 boilies balanced in conjunction with small pellets and around forty freebies around each rod.
I think Dave is an original member of the syndicate, which started 17yrs ago! So Dave has caught cluster he will be targeting the big lake where there are at least 24 known 40’s with 4 over 48lb.
9th March
A couple more fish graced the bank at the weekend this time it was Mark Randall who was fishing the conker tree swim, and during a sunny mid morning spell Mark had 2 takes on the same rod on bottom baits. The first was a lovely 21-00 fully scaled mirror and the other was a 24-10 mirror. Very unlucky to catch 2 fish from the top lake at acton and not get a whacker.
With 4 fish out in the last eight days, it looks promising for the syndicate over the next few weeks.
1st March
The weekend just gone Chris Lowe braved the weather and landed a stunning young 32-04 mirror, photographed on the mat. Then Chris an Awesome 47-03 mirror( see pic gallery). The biggest fish caught in the UK so far this year.
The fish was last caught in May 09
26th February
Chris Lowe has braved the cold and rain and is mid session on the top lake at Acton and has already landed 32-04m and a spectacular 47-03m and Andy Walker was visiting Chris when he had the take. The pics will be on the site Monday. ( nce again the SBS Lobworm baits did the business
21st January
RH Fisheries gives you the chance to fish two of its most famous waters. During the months of April and May both Weston and Acton are open to all to fish in what we call our open access period. In which each lake can be exclusively booked for a week at a time. Both waters have their own draw be it the size of the fish or the amenities that are included, so I shall now go through each lake in detail: -
Weston:
Weston is a twelve-acre lake with a stock of 205 fish over 180 of which are 20lb+ with plenty of 30’s. There is a good mix of both commons and mirrors I would say probably 50/50 and with the current lake record being a common of 36lb-14oz.
During the open access we allow it to be booked exclusively from Sunday to Sunday with the maximum of eight anglers in your group. In this you not only get to fish from any of the swims between you. Also included is the exclusive use of the boathouse which is a listed building that has excellent facilities which include toilet, shower two single beds a kitchen with all cooking equipment and utensils and a BBQ area weather permitting.
Acton
Acton has two separate lakes which can be exclusively booked either individually or as one to get the entire complex between your group of friends.
The top lake is the larger of the two at seventeen acres has a stock of around 150 fish. The lake record is 48-12 with three fish all being caught at this weight. There has been twenty-one different fish over 40lb so far this season including commons and mirrors to 48+. The lower lake is only six acres but has a much lower stock only around twenty six fish but the lake record on the lower lake is 55-02 common known as "Bill" and the average size of the fish is over 35lb.
Each lake on Acton is booked exclusively on a Saturday to Saturday basis with a maximum of eight anglers on the top lake and a maximum of six anglers allowed to fish on the lower lake.
During last years open access period there were sixteen 40lb+ fish landed which just goes to show that if you are looking to improve your PB a week during the open access on Acton is the place to do it!
Facilities wise it is a little more basic with just a portaloo but these two lakes are for the more serious carper who is used to more drive and survive facilities we feel. And wants to experience fantastic surroundings.
There is only very limited weeks available still as you can imagine on such fantastic lakes for exclusive use so should you wish to enquire further or book please contact us on 01952 463141 or visit our website www.rhfisheries.com
1st December
All quiet at the moment not through lack of anglers, as there have been a few braving the cold. But as Dave Haughton proved last week even multiple catches are possible and normally once the weather settles down Acton produces quite a few throughout the winter.
24th November
Long standing Acton member Dave ‘Sherpa’ Haughton had a mega catch last week from the lower lake!
31 mirror
33 mirro
35.08 mirror
39.06 mirror
and top cap it off, Bill at 47.04
Dave takes up the story.
"Most of the lads seem to be fishing the deeper end of the lake so i decided to head up to the pontoon, but all the fish came from the margin between the pontoon and the little field, literally an underarm cast.
I did a 72 hour session and the fish were caught steadily throughout the session with Bill coming in last...........The search for Cluster continues."
All Quiet up on the top lake at the moment but as with the bottom lake they will be on the look out for food prior to the cold weather.
10th November
All quiet at the moment up at Acton with very few anglers venturing out.
Although this is the time of year when those few who find the fish and get a result say very little. Tony Barwell was up the shallows sitting quietly mid week so I guess the fish weren’t far away.
3rd November
The lakes are looking fantastic at the moment with the forest in all its autumn glory. Mr consistent Andy Boaz landed a lovely 31-08 mirror from the bottom lake .
I have just come back from a walk around the big lake and all was quiet with just 1 syndicate member fishing. Now is the time they will be feeding heavily prior to the winter so iam sure we will get some big girls out soon.
27th october
Despite these warm October conditions its been fairly quiet up at Acton. Andy Boaz has just had a 35-02 from the lower lake, which is his 14th fish from the lower lake this season, all fourteen being over 30lb. With only 24 fish present that’s excellent angling.
There are a few on the top lake at the moment, so hopefully there will be a few out this week.
20th October
Bill goes 49-08, which is a big weight for October Dave Cobb was the successful angler and caught her from the pontoon swim and as you can see from thew picture she in fantastic condition. Dave was buzzing when he called me, which is what its all about and even his wife said he’s never been as happy.
Up on the top lake only Steve Powell was successful this week landing a low 30.
6th October
Acton has again been producing with syndicate member Lee Burns landing a 31-00 and a 36-01. Lee fished the pot bed swim fishing towards the dam lee baited each rod with around half a kilo of boilies per rod and topped up the same amount after each fish. Lee told us all the action happened within 24hrs during a period of very windy weather, as soon as the wind stopped he saw no more signs of fish and didn’t get any more action.
29th September
Acton still appears to be producing the big fish even while most other waters are fishing hard with Andy Boaz still being Mr consistent and on his latest session landed 2 fish a 35-04 and a 34-10down on the lower lake. Up on the Top Lake Mark Randall had a 33-08 from the pot bed swim and Phil Doorbar had a 33-00 and a 43-08 mirror and a 46-06 common and Dave Smith landed a 44-08 common and a 41-08 leather from the oak swim. Most fish fell to the SBS Lobworm bait, which in my opinion is the only bait to use on the top lake at Acton.
22nd September
Another 40 from the big lake last week weighing 40-04 and it was caught by Steve Powell, who later on in his session also landed a 30-00 and a 38-00. Steve has had his best season every on there as he also landed a brace of 40lb commons recently. All of Steve’s fish were caught on SBS Lobworm boilies this is definitely the bait to be fishing with on Acton it seems to be catching the majority of the fish on there.
Also amongst the fish were Terry Stock with a 29-00 and Chris Lowe with a 35-08.
The open access that runs on Acton has proven very popular, we only have 1 week left on the big lake and a couple on the lower lake. So if you want to pit your wit’s against the biggies then give us a call on 09152 463141.
15TH sEPTEMBER
More 40’s from Acton and another new 40 this season from the big lake with Lee Burns landing a clonking 43-0 mirror together with a 22-00.
That fish is the 20th different 40lb fish from the big lake since April this year.
Also Kev Green payed Acton a visit for the first time in what seems ages to land a 26-00 and a lovely deep bodied 32-00 common.
On the lower lake Andy Boaz has been as consistent as ever landing a stunning dark 41-08 mirror from the island swim Andy has been baiting heavily with boilies all season and he certainly seems to have got the fish on the bait.
During April and May whole lake bookings have nearly sold out already we have 1 week left on the big lake 22nd – 29th May and 3 weeks left on the lower lake.
Groups of 8 anglers on the big lake and groups of 6 for the lower lake.
Web Updating
The web will now not be updated again until 14th September as i am going away on my holidays

1st September
The big lake produced 5 whackers at the weekend and their weights were 39-0, 42-08, 42-12, 43-00, 47-08. The average weight was 42-09!
Steve Powell fished the african tree swim and landed a brace of 40lb commons weighing 42-12 and 47-08. Steve followed Matt Law into the swim who landed a 39-00 and a 42-08. Phil Doorbar fished the pot bed to land the 43-00 mirror.
There was one amazing stat about these 5 fish all were caught on the SBS Lobworm boilies so if you have booked on in the closed season get on the SBS Lobworm boilies.
during this period. So if u dream of a 50lb+ common Acton is the place to do it!
Down on the lower lake Mr consistent Andy Boaz landed his 6th fish of the season at 34-10 from the island on T1 boilies.
25th August
Up on the top lake Dave Smith landed a 34-00 and Chris Lowe had an 18-00, which is better than in previous weeks as Acton has been fishing very hard.
Its down on the bottom lake that the most action has been taking place though Acton Regular Bob Tapken landed 2 fish a 33-12 and a 36-11. Also Bill the common has been landed again at a spawned out weight of 45-02.
18th August
Acton seems to have fished hard this week, as I have not heard of any capture this week form either the top or bottom lake. Its not uncommon for the syndicate to experience difficult spells during the summer period as the fish tend to spend longer enjoying the sun than feeding. This however allows me to talk more about the open access we run on Acton, as this seems to be the most popular of the waters that we operate under the open access scheme during the months of April and May. The top lake has only 1 week left which I am sure will be booked very shortly so if you are interested call sooner rather than later. The lower lake has a few more spaces there are 3 weeks left for this. And the lower lake is the home to bill the 50lb common together with at least 5 other fish over 40lb upto 48-08. The 50lb common has over the last 2 years of the open access come out during this period. So if u dream of a 50lb+ common Acton is the place to do it!
11TH aUGUST
I have not had any news off the top lake for last week so I am assuming that either nothing was caught or quiet possibly the lake wasn’t even fished.
On the lower lake however there have been a couple of the well-known fish.
Andy Boaz landed the fish known as the ‘leney’ at a weight of 31-07 during a quick overnighter. Nick Jones caught the fish that everyone is after bill the big common at a spawned out weight of 47-08.
Open Access
If you are wishing to book acton for the open access you need to be organising your group and booking asap as we only have 1 date left for the top lake the22nd to the 29th May. there are a couple more dates for the lower lake but these seem to getting much more interest of late also so i am predicting they shall all be booked up in the near future too.
Too enquire or to book please call us on 01952 463141
4th August
Although always tricky Acton is consistently producing big fish last week fishery bailiff Chris Lowe returned to catch a 38-08 from the big lake on the ever productive SBS Lobworm boilies. The big lake has really progressed in the last couple of seasons and the average weight is now certainly mid 30’s with almost every 3rd fish being over 40lb.
Down on the lower lake Andy Boaz who has been catching well all season landed a stunning 37-10 from the road bank. I’m very hopeful both lakes will produce new 50’s this winter with the mirror known as cluster the candidate on the Bottom Lake. Last caught by Steve Briggs at 48-04.
28th July
It’s more 40’s from Acton! this season is turning out to be an exceptional one even by Acton standards.
Even after spawning both lakes are producing 40’s and up on the big lake Phil Doorbar had a 36-06. Steve Hancock had an awesome looking 47-00.
Old timer Dave Treasure even hung up his French rods for a session in the oak swim and landed 3 fish: 25-00, 30-08 and 32-00! Must e fishing well! Cell boilies did the trick for Dave.
On the lower lake Paul Hunt landed a couple of stunners weighing 32-06 and 40-06.
I’m not sure exactly but the Acton complex must now hold at least 25 different 40’s and a 52lb common. With 5 big 40’s in the top lake.
7th July
Both the top and bottom lake have produced a few fish this weekend with Terry Stock landing 2 x 40’s from the top lake a 40-02 and a 40-07. Terry was fishing a swim known as the conker, he fished cell boilies over a bed of matching bait.
On the lower lake John Weir landed 2 great fish 34-08 38-06 from this mega hard lake. He caught them both on boilies fishing to a patch of weed out in front of him.
There’s plenty of bait going in Acton now in particular the SBS Lobworm so I am very hopeful we may get a couple of new 50’s this winter.
Also in this months Carpworld Steve Briggs and Simon Crow have do a feature on the lower lake as if they had booked a week of the open access. If you are interested in the open access I would suggest you read this.
30th June
All quiet since Bob Tapken’s 52 common the only fish to report was a 25lb caught by Phil Dunbar!
There’s plenty of bait going in Acton now in particular the SBS Lobworm so I am very hopeful we may get a couple of new 50’s this winter.
23rd June
Acton has fished brilliantly the last week with Andy Walker of SBS fished the top lake landing 3 fish 20-00, 31-10, 42-14 2 on SBS Lobworm boilies and 1 on critically balanced SBS corn poppers. Chris Caddick was also on the top lake and landed his first fish from Acton a stunning 41-03 mirror, which was also landed on the SBS Lobworm boilie.
On the lower lake the common known as "bill" was landed by Bob Tapken at a great weight of 52-00. Bob told us he caught the fish on a popup rig in a hole in a weed bed that he had baited with nearly 2kgs of boilies.
19th June
Great news the fish I know as the Matt Hayes fish was last caught to my knowledgeBy Dave Dunbavin at 47-04 a couple of years ago. I am not aware that this fish has been caught since until a couple of weeks ago when Mat Hancock caught it spawned out at 42-03. It was obviously very big prior to spawning.
This is now the 18th different 40lber out since the start of may and I can think of at least 4 others that have yet to be landed including Ade Reeves 48 which was in the netting last winter.
16th June
Up on the big lake the fish are steadily coming out with Deano landing a 37-00 and the best fish of the week falling to Matt Hancock at 42-08, which was a spawned out mirror. Matt said it isn’t one of the fish, which came out in the closed season and believes it could be one of the big mirrors that haven’t been caught for a while we are awaiting the pic’s.
Again steady and difficult down on the lower lake with the only fish of the week falling to Andy Boaz at 33-08 and 38-08 from the first road swim. The biggies have all avoided capture so far since the closed season.
Bookings 2010
Due to anglers requesting to be able to make plans for their fishing holidays for 2010 we will take bookings for the Open Access on both Acton lakes and Weston from now onwards. However for any Monument bookings or for just the boathouse bookings they will be from September 1st as usual.
19th May
Last week was the last week on Acton of the open access for 2009. It was a gentleman Shane Barton and his friend Steve who had booked on in May and enjoyed it so much managed to get back on again for another session. They had 5 fish of those another 2 were 40’s both 42lb. Which bring the total of 40’s landed during the open access on the top lake alone upto 16. To add to that though the first 2 days the syndicate have been back on and landed another 2 so there have been 18 x 40lb+ fish landed from the top lake in the last 4 weeks.
On the lower lake last week Steve Briggs and Simon Crow were fishing. They had a fantastic session with Steve landing 6 fish upto 48-04. For the full write up including bait tactics etc read his article on his session at acton.
15th May
Steve Briggs iscoming towards the end of a sesion on the bottom lake, as has already landed 5 fish 32-08 the leney, 33-00,34-00, 38-08, 48-04 cluster. This is an awesome catch pictures, bait and tactics will be posted on the site shortly.
11th May
After the mega catch by the Liverpool lads, its was never going to continue producing so many big fish, however a group of lads arrived from the midlands, with sensible tactics and a quality bait, and as the session progressed they started to get amongst the big fish. Baiting heavily early on with frozen SBS Lobworm boilies, I mention frozen as I think freezer baits are better than shelf life baits and the fish know this too.
Having kept the swims quiet the fish moved in, Mark Baggot was the first to catch with a 32-06 and a 39-04 then Lee Rolfe had a 41-02 common a PB and one of the trips organizers Stuart Chabior landed a 44-02 mirror another great result.
Acton big lake has now produced 13 forties in the last 25 days!!
A few of the syndicate lads were fishing as bailiffs on the lower lake and they caught a few including the big girl "Bill" at 52-08 by Carl Amery who also had a 34-14 and a 29-00, Also Big rich landed a 35-00.
This week we have got Steve Briggs and Simon Crow pitting their wits against the clever bottom lake carp we will let you know how they get on next week.
Don’t forget if you can get a group of 8 lads together you can book Acton exclusively during April and May 2010. Call us on 01952 463141 to find out more. Bookings taken from Sept 1st.
4th May
Billy McKinven and friends booked the Lower Lake last week and landed five fish as follows – 32-00, 34-0, 36-00, 38-04, 38-08 all mirrors, the good news is that four of the party caught! They sensibly only fished two rods each and kept the disturbance to a minimum. All fish were caught on boilies over boilies. Already this week the one they have all been after has just been landed. Pic and details of the big girl next week.
20TH aPRIL
The big lake see’s its first guests this week with a group of lads from Plymouth and I know they have had a whacker already! Pics next week.
Down on the lower lake Brian burgh landed a 35-15 and a 36-14!
Also amongst the fish were Matt Marlow with a 34-10, Matt Hancock with a 31-00 and Clive Reynolds with a 31-08.
NEW WATER "THE SYTCH"
The White Sytch. RH Fisheries has formed a partnership with Ed Matthews, and acquired the control of a spectacular naturally formed 26-acre lake located very near to our Weston Park fishery.
The lake has never previously been fished and is known to have produced carp to 18-00 back in the 1830’s
After carrying out test netting’s to see what the lake holds, we will be stocking 1000 young monument carp weighing6 –10lb together with 50 young 20lb+ fish there is lots of work to be done throughout 2009 to get the lake fishable for 2010.
Should you wish to apply to join the syndicate please send a letter to Ed Matthews 4 Bridgeman Court, Weston under lizard, Staffs, TF11 8QH.
You will then receive a reply and be invited to see the lake this autumn, or call 01952 463141 to find out more.
I assure you, you will be impressed!
23rd December
Syndicate members please note the date of the netting has changed and is now going to be happening on thursday 29th january please pass this on as you speak to other members!!
12th December
Ice update!! The top lake is 90% frozen over but the lower lake is less than half frozen and with the wind blowing like it is should mean that the lakes will not freeze further, and hopefully may even thaw a little!
24th November
Despite quite a few anglers trying their luck this week on both lakes the weather took its toll as we are not aware of any fish being caught.
That said Acton is a good winter water and like most fisheries when we do get a consistent spell of weather they are catchable.
28th October
The run of 40’s from the big lake has continued with Mark Randall landing a stunning 44-04 mirror from the pot bed! Interestingly this fish is a new 40 come through which could be one of many this winter in the big lake now. We call them young as they were introduced later than most of the fish. Andy Walker’s 47-08 is the biggest of them so far.
9 out of the last 14 fish landed have been over 40lb
The algae is now clearing down on the lower lake and they are starting to go on the munch as Deano has just landed a 37-04.
This is a great time to fish the water with all of the fish due to caught, so I am expecting many of the big girls to be caught in the near future.
21st October
Its been an awesome week on the big lake at Acton with another 4 40’s landed including a new lake record with a different fish to the previous record 48-12 common know to the syndicate as the pretty common.
The top lake has fished incredible this week with 5 fish off this weekend alone but that’s only the half of it of the 5 fish 4 were 40lb+.
Andy Walker had a 30-08 mirror and a 42-02 common a new pb common for Andy.
Chris Lowe had 2 40’s 40-10 common know as the Atwell common and 41-04 mirror. The biggest fish of the weekend and a new top lake, lake record fell to Steve Powell weighing in at 48-12.
All the fish were landed on the SBS Lobworm boilie, the bait to be on up Acton it seems as 90% of the fish that have been out this season seems to have been caught on it!
14th October
Up on the big lake my prediction is starting to come true! Les watts landed a stunning brace of 40’s from the unpopular willow swim.
Both mirrors weighing 41-08 and 42-12 the classic approach of finding the fish and presenting rigs with stealth I believe is what makes Les so successful. It would appear that on all waters lines play a big part in the behavior of the fish and even on Acton, a water that is not heavily pressured they are moving into the quieter swims.
Also amongst the fish last week was Terry Stock with a 35-00 and a 21-00 and Andy walker with a 33-00.
All these guys are using Quality bait, which makes a difference.
There are still plenty more bigger fish to make an appearance soon, especially now the water has finally cleared from the summer algae.
Down on the lower lake its so quiet. I just know there is a big catch going to happen anyday. Sometimes you can just sense when the big fish are going to be caught.
7th October
Up on the big lake a few more of its jewels have been landed and once again they are fish that haven’t been caught for some time.
Chris Lowe has landed a lovely big scaled 33-00 from the reeds using SBS Lobworm boilies Terry Stock had a 27-00 from the pot bed and Les Watts has followed up his 35-00 last week with a 42-00.
I am unsure about Les’ bait and rigs etc as he is old school and doesn’t give much away.
There are still plenty more biggies due out.
Down on the lower lake all is quiet at the moment but with many of the big fish due out, it wont be long.
30th September
Up on the big lake its still being difficult but Chris Lowe has landed yet another stunning big fish weighing 36-03. Chris was fishing the conker swim and once again the SBS Lobworm did the business.
Also Mark Randall landed a 19-00 from the pot bed following a 27-00.
Interestingly every time a big fish gets caught from the big lake it is always a fish that hasn’t previously been caught this season. They were very active on Saturday, so hopefully the lake will give up some more biggies shortly.
Down on the lower lake it has been quiet particularly since the algae water from the big lake has been flushed in.
23rd September
Its been slow at Acton this week with only 1 fish to my knowledge coming off from the top lake a 26-10 to Bob Tapken who fish a couple of nights up in the African.
It appears to have been a similar story on the lower lake as far as I know only 4 anglers fished the lower lake over the week and the only person to catch was Lee Partington who landed 2 30’s from the Pontoon swim a 32-00 and a 36-02.
16th September
Chris Lowe is still fishing very consistently with a rarely caught leather this week at 41-04, caught from the African tree swim. Using SBS Lobworm boilies! Chris seems to be getting the big lake sussed as most anglers are struggling and the fishery is still being The floodwater has flushed out a lot of the algae and what’s left has been greatly diluted. So now is the time to get onto the big lake!
Yet another 40! This time long time Birmingham carper Ade Reeves with the "Dave Moore" fish at 40-02 this fish like many in the lower lake is back on the way up. Having spawned out heavily this summer, last winter she weighed in at 45-00.
Ade fished the middle road swim and landed a 31-00 and the 40 from the road bank and was then bold enough to move in the wheel barrow swim and landed a 32-04! Ade caught all his fish on John coopers bait.
Ade has landed 5 fish from the lower lake in just his last 2 sessions.
Like many of the syndicate Ade has targeted the big girl "Bill" the common which we expect to be 55lb + this winter.
difficult. I am confident Chris will get amongst a few more biggies yet this season.
Also amongst the fish from the SBS team was Andy Walker with a 33-00 from the Conker. The floodwater has flushed out a lot of the algae and what’s left has been greatly diluted.

9th September 2008
The floodwater has flushed the algae out over the overflow, which has given the big lake lovely water colour, and Terry Stock has already landed a fish weighing 25-00 early in his session.
With many of the big lake 40’s due out the weeks ahead look good.
Although the lower lake is now tinged with algae washed out of the big lake the fish are still coming out. Matt Hancock landed a 33-00 yesterday and the syndicate anglers are predicting "Bill" will be out soon, she was last caught this summer at 52-00 so the lake record could go!
26th August
Acton has been fishing very hard the last few weeks with to my knowledge only a couple of fish having been landed. I’ve spoken to a few guys that have been up there the last few weeks and they said the fish are active as they have seen them crashing out all over the lake but they just don’t seem to be feeding very hard at the moment. From the top lake Andy Walker of SBS had a 25-00, which he caught fishing a bed of SBS Lobworm boilies with matching hookbait.
Matt Lightfoot landed a 37-00 from the lower lake, the first fish he has caught from there this season and a new PB for him, so well done to Matt!
7th August
Up on the big lake things are continuing to steadily improve, as the algae starts to clear. Andy Walker is Mr consistent at the moment landing another rarely caught biggie at 39-00 together with a 23-00 common Andy continued his run of success using the SBS Lobworm boilies baiting up and placing his baits with chest waders to a shallow margin area.
Down on the Lower lake the best fish last week was a 32-08.
4th August
The Algae on the top lake is starting to break down and the fish are slowly becoming catchable!
Recently the following fish have been caught
Andy Walker 23-00, 39-00, 47-04
Chris Lowe 39-10
Mark Randall 43-14
The lower lake is fishing well however the fish are welll down in weight! Although "Bill has been out recently at 52-08

The Lower lake fished steady with 3 anglers managing to catch 1 of the lakes special fish.
Matt Oakley landed a 38-00 from the 1st Road, Micheal Moorhouse had a 31-00 and 36-00 from the double road and Clive mason had a well deserved 35-08 from the big field.
The Big lake produced 12 fish for the week with top rod being Jason Fisher landing 5 fish from sandy point up to 37-00. The best fish of the week was a leather weighing 40-00 exactly caught by Ricky Mcgee from the steps.
Mr smeaton had 3 ypto 34-00 from the pot bed. Any Walker of SBS Baits had a 29-00 from the shallows. SBS Lobworm boilies caught the 5 fish from the Sandy point!

Last weeks anglers on the Lower lake had a fantastic week 8 fish landed with an average weight of 41-04. (see pic gallery)
