Ice 3/2
Despite our best efforts to keep it ice free, mother nature has taken its toll and the lake has got a firm lid on top of it! Therefroe this weekend has had to be cancelled and we shall update you when it is free.
Report Update 31/1
Monument
Over the years I have fished a number of waters, throughout the winter as well, and I have too
say I am amazed at the quality of fishing that the Monument produce’s week after week. Since
our last report there has been a total of 8 different 30’s out, with 2 anglers catching a brace!
With a further 12 other fish, most of which went over 20lbs. It truly is remarkable for this time
of year considering the conditions. If you look on our website at rhfisheries.com, on the gallery
section, page two the average weight of fish on that page for January is 32-00!!
One of our regulars and I can see why, Kirk Marsden had a first-class session catching a brace of
30’s with the biggest going 38-00 and the other 31-08. Brett Adams and his friend started a
week’s holiday, fishing three of the top day tickets waters in the country. Starting his first 36
hour session on here, he manage to catch four fish at 21-04, 27-00, 32-10 and saving the best
fish till last a half liner mirror weighing 35-00. Mr consistent Luke Edwards has been catching a
few with the biggest going 31-00. Darren Lloyd and friend Shaun New had a mad 5 minute spell
where they both caught a 30lber at the same time, Darren’s going 32-01 as well as 23-02 within
the 5 minutes and Shaun breaking his pb at 31-15.

30's weighing 31-08 & 38-12.

items combined with maggots doing the business.
We do have swims available throughout jan & feb
so if you would like to book on call us on 01952-463141.
Ice
Well with the cold weather, we still manage to kept the water 80% free of ice last night, due to the airater and borehole running in.
With the Temperture going up it should be clear by the weekend. The good news in the future when we do get hit by some hard frost we should be able to keep parts of the lake open to fish.
If you fancy a go we still have pegs free this weekend so phone us on 01952 463141, Im off working on one of our other fisheries this Thurs/ Fri but Rob will be popping in to answer the phone on Thurs.
Carp Report 17/1
Well it all changed just after our last report, as predicted
the carp went on the munch, and on the weekend alone there
were 13 fish landed from all around the fishery. There were
some superb catches for January, Ryan Westby was fishing
swim 13 and after spoding a gallon of maggots landed a 15-00,
26-08 and a brace of 30's weighing 30-00 and 31-00 "top angling"
His fishing partner next-door Danny Armitage also landed three
fish upto 26-04. But it was Luke veins that had the most action;
over in swim 3 Luke landed five fish upto 25-06 on a variety of
methods. There were fish caught on various tactics during the
same session, which in the winter is unusual, including a couple
out on bottom bait boilies. We have been feeding the new AVID
boilies, so I’am not surprised they are starting to pick up
the boilies even in this cold weather.
Also amongst the fish was monument regular Luke Edwards, with a
25-00 and 27-00 on the maggots.
However the BIG news this week, is the introduction of a magnificent
42-00 lb common into the monument, pictured with myself prior to
being introduced, we also have a video clip which will be on our
website soon. www.rhfisheries.com
This magnificent fish has lots of room to grow, so we look forward
to seeing one of you holding him up for the camera.
Please note the phone is only manned Sat/Sun & Mon/ Tues at the
moment! We have availability throughout Jan/ Feb, so give us a call
on 01952-463141, as even in the cold weather the fish are proving
catchable.
Acton
Our bailiff Chris Lowe on Acton has been proving they can be caught
at this time of year and catching in style as he had a 41-10 common
known as white tips and a 19-00 mirror, Awesome fishing well done,
the fish was caught on a new prototype Avid pop up as well so were
looking forward to them being released. There has also been reports
of a couple of fish of the other lake going 37-00 and 39-00, so I’m
hoping to get the pictures for you soon.
Weston
There has been a cancellation for the open access on Weston Park
during April. If you and some friends fancy a go, contact me on
01952463141. Weston is a spectacular looking mature 12-acre estate
lake in the private grounds of Weston Park.
Open access is for group bookings of upto 8 anglers; with 13
pegs there is plenty of room. Included in this is the spectacular
grade 2 listed sand stone boathouse.
The lake holds 204 stunning carp with a new lake record common
weighing 39-15, there is a big head of 30's in Weston and a
average weight of 25+, I must warn you they are boilie eaters,
and the fishing can be fantastic!
Check this out 17/1
Search on You Tube “24hr rod race Matt Hayes” it the 19th June clip by Jonathan
Chappell and give an introduction on Matt Hayes brace of 37’s at The Sitch, it will be out on TV soon
The Sitch is a naturally formed breath taking 26 acre estate lake, surrounded by mature dense woodland that boasts a spectacular variety of trees, and is home to a diverse range of wildlife.
The fishery has 20 purpose built pegs, some are situated in the woodland and others on purpose built platforms set out on the lakeside amongst the reed and sedges.
The lake is stocked with 450 young monument strain carp. These fish range from 12lb – 30lb and are growing at a healthy rate, with the number of 20’s increasing each month! There are also a number of 30lb fish with the lake record currently standing at 38lb +. On top of the current stock we also adopt an on going year on year stocking policy with a view to improving on the high end fish we have exceeding 30lb.
The future looks promising for the Sitch as the fish continue to grow. With 450 fish multiple catches are a common place, these fish really respond to heavy baiting tactics and with depth’s not exceeding 4ft you are never too far away from your target.
Syndicate
The Sitch is run as a syndicate from June to March and is a great way to start your fishing carrier on an R H Fisheries syndicate water. Joining the Sitch couldn’t be simpler, just pick up the phone and contact Ed on 07779257812
Open Access
Through the months of April and May we operate an open access policy, we sell the lake exclusively from Sat- Sat for groups of upto 12 anglers. With 26 acres of water to target and 20 well spaced swims, there loads of room (we will consider groups of 6 for half the fishery)

Visit the Weston site to see pictures of the boathouse
The lake holds 204 stunning carp with a new lake record common weighing 39-15, there is a big head of 30's in Weston and a average weight of 25+, they are boilie eaters, and very catchable, as they love the boilies which produce all year round.

Monument Update 7/1
Today we introduced 12 young doubles from our on
site stock pool, and already two have been landed
weighing 10lb & 15lb. It just goes to show,when
naive fish go into a fishery and see maggots they
carn't resist them, even in January. It also shows
the conditions are good for all the fish to feed, but
the big girls are that more wary! Worth trying something
different, poss sweetcorn or classic tutti's.
Just a quick note during Jan and Feb the phone will be
attended on sat/sun and mon/ tues as on the thurs/fri
session we are doing fishery management aound our lakes.

Report 12/12
Despite the weather turning cold, the carp remain catchable on the maggots, as a number of anglers have shown this week, Tony Ryan showed us how its done with a cracking 29-05 from swim 12, and Tim Atherton has been amongst the fish again as he manage a 28-00 from swim 14.
During the winter anglers are very welcome to turn up on the day and just pay for a day session, which is what Mr Greatrex did, when he dropped into peg 2 for the day and landed a lovely 25-00 mirror. Also we were delighted to welcome Steve Morgon from the “Mainline” family together with Dave Chancellor, who despite tough cold conditions both landed low 20’s on the awesome cell. Luke Edwards has manage 9 runs in 4 visits, so it won’t be long until he starts to catch some of the larger stamp fish.
During the very cold spells we now have the luxury of pumping in our bore-hole water, which at 10oc is considerably warmer then the lake temperature and will help the fish to continue to feed. With an aerator in place as well, which will keep the main body of the lake free from any ice, so we are confident of staying open throughout the winter.
As always, it’s the small changes, which can make all the difference between catching and blanking. A lot of the fish have been caught on the red maggots, as everyone has been using them, so it could be time for different colours and smells, to increase the chance’s of a bite! Ask some of he match anglers for fishing the maggots as so much can be learnt from their style of fishing! A combination of two often works as fresh sweetcorn will often produce and baiting up at the right time is also key to this type of fishing, “you can always put it in, but you cant take it out” comes to mind.
We have decided on some of the dates on the open access (Acton Burnell, lower lake only) to allow anglers to book in pairs or by themselves, rather then to book a group of upto six. The two dates so far are as follows 14th- 21st April and 12th-19th May. There will be a maximum of 6 six anglers on at once, but could be less depending on bookings and as the lake is around 7 acres there is plenty of room to fish.
The lower lake is a beautiful lake, overlooked by a stunning small castle (folly), the lake is home to the biggest fish on the complex, a 51-00 lb common called "bill " last caught in may at 51-00 by Simon crow. The lake also holds 20 other originals that are all over 30 lb and five of them are over 40lb, there are also 42 young fish which are now mid doubles. The lake has 9 excellent swims which are well spaced out.

Weston Boathouse 6/12
The Boathouse has again proven very popular this year with very few places
left, however in March we have a winner from carp-talk fishing on the 9th-11th,
which means we have 2 short weeks either side of the weekend. If you fancy
fishing either one of these dates at a reduce rate, on the 3rd- 9th march or the
12th – 17th March then please phone us on 01952 463141.
Carp Report 29/11
What a couple of weeks it’s been for a number of reasons! Whilst I was away 45 fish have been landed, which includes 13x30’s
Richard Orchard had a good finish to his 4 day session catching another 3 fish up to a whopping 36-12. Tony Ellwood had a nice 34-00 which went with a stunning 23-07. Also on the big fish list was Matt Childe 31-14 and Kirk Marston 30-00. Justin Hulme smashed his pb catching a lump at 36-00.
During the winter, the monument is a class of it own for big fish captures! Each session the fishery produces a 30 + fish, mainly due to the maggots being allowed from now in till the end of February, but don’t discard the cell boilies which will always produce.
With the syndicate lakes fishing very hard many anglers move onto The Monument for the winter. Dave Chancellor who has been top rod on the Avenue, is currently mid session and already landed a 26-08. As Dave is such a successful angler who also has a full time job, we will be getting some tips and advice on how to catch, which will be in the winter Carp-talk issues.
We are continuing to feed varying amounts of the new prototype “Avid” boilies, to ensure it is a well established food source next spring when there on the munch.
We do have swims available mid week, so if you fancy a good chance for a winter 30 give us a ring on 01952-463141, and I will gladly show you the rigs and tactics that are producing the fish.
Swims Available
We currently have a few spare pegs on 1st/2nd December, 5/6th, 8/9th and 12/13th sessions, to book please phone 01952463141
Please note from the 1st of December the price's for a 36 hour session change to to £40 for a 36 hour session
Day Fishing
Due to the time of year, we occasionally get spare pegs, we also understand that not everyone can do a 36 hour session. So if you fancy doing some day fishing session on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (and sometimes the weekend if we have spare places) please phone us the day before (before 5) to see if there are any pegs free.
As a result of the superb fishing since the maggots have been allowed we have had some fantistic hits and 90% of the fish are catchable during the day, we will also be opening on Wednesday 30th Nov as we have had a number of enquiry about us opening.
For more details please phone us on 01952 463141
Carp Report
What a few weeks it’s been. I’m writing this report 2 sessions early as my Mrs is due any day now, and so far we have a total of 38 fish out, since the last report!! And there are still four more days to go. Of these 39 fish 9 were thirties!
Sam Burley had a dream session, he broke his pb 6 times during 36 hours, which included 4 30’s at 30-02, 32-04, 32-10 and a 33-00, this has been the best hit since I’ve been here and no doubt for the year so well done fella. Chris mason has being catching a few, he had a stunning brace catching both within an hour, which went 30-00 and 34-00. Dan Davy fished the day ticket Wednesday and had a spectacular brace, the two fish both went 32-00. As I write this, one of our regulars Richard Orchard has now had three fish upto 33-00 on the first day and is praying to catch one on his birthday the next day.
Well with fishing like this it’s all about the Monument at the moment! Whilst all our other waters are fishing hard, this place is fishing its sock’s off! With the maggots allowed the fish can’t resist them, Infact our catches throughout winter often match those in the summer months, without the maggots.
However the going rig/ method can make all the difference, and at the moment its red maggots in preference to other colours that the carp seem to favour, and rather then fishing them on a hair or a clip, simply three straight on a small size 8/10 with a plastic maggot over the eye of the hook, like a mag aligner.
Also Flouro carbon links of approx 8 inches seem to be more effective then braid links; due to visibility, as the small fish have now been removed so the fishery has become much clearer, so visibility is a key factor.
Although what I would say is don’t be afraid to do your own thing, as with all the going methods on day tickets waters, it all changes very quickly, we can only advice our customers of what is working at the present time. I’ve not seen the zigs fished for a while so that could work.
The fishery is now full and the water quality is supreme. We have had a water test carried out which is something we now do annually and we could drink the water, the quality from the borehole water is that good. During the mild spells we will continue to introduce our new prototype boilies from ‘Avid’ to both establish the bait for next season and give the carp some quality bait throughout the colder months.
What a Weekend
15 Big Fish were landed this weekend, including 5 stunning 30’s! One angler Sam Burley fished swim 8 and smashed his P.B of 23-00 6 times!! When he landed a 20-00, 22-04, 23-04, 27-00, 27-12, 30-02, 32-04, 32-10 and 33-00 in 36 hours! Matt Wilshaw fished peg 7 and landed four fish upto 30-02! As well Kirk Marsden landed two upto 28-00 from swim 13.
The tactics are red maggots with small P.V.A bags attached.
November as in the previous years is doing the business again; we do have some spare swims available, so call us on 01952463141
Also the Fishery Management has been a huge success, with all the hard work paying off as only 3 small carp were caught on the maggots all weekend, which have now been removed

Monument
It’s been a good few weeks on the Monument, it has fished steady with 19 fish landed including 6 30’s.
With the vast majority of the small carp now removed, and maggots permitted from Nov 1st, we are expecting some good catches. With Des Taylor and Chris Lowe both fishing maggots for features and both have manage to sneak one out so far. I would also recommend the use of sweetcorn, hemp and chopped tigers. The capture of the week must go to Terry Holland, who tried something different when he presented a mussel on the hair, and within 10 minutes of casting out landed a lovely 32-00 mirror. The biggest out for the week went to Rich Francis who had a 21-00 mirror and 35-12 both fishing cell.
The fishery is also looking really well and with the water level rising nicely it should be full within the week.
Big Fish
We will be introducing our new big fish into the monument later in Nov and will make sure we post the pictures of them being introduced on the Gallery.

Firsts Fish
We have justed had our first fish out since the netting, which judging by the fish showing has spread them out over the lake, so we are predicting with this rain and mild temperture could stir them on for a feed.
Wednesday Fishing
Due to the successful netting, we plan to open on the 9th Nov, as maggots are allowed from the beggining of the month, we hope this will give more anglers the chance to catch a few with a shorter session

GREAT NEWS
Great news all round at the monument, firstly we have removed a further 1500lb of small carp, so we are now confident nearly all the small carp have been removed, so maggots in November could do the business. Also we netted three of the known 40's and loads and I mean loads of 30's! I was honestly surprised by the amount of fish around the 35 lb mark. We will now be introducing our new big fish at the end of November, we will put pics on the gallery, and the bore hole is now up and running, so the water level is improving by the day. We look forward to seeing you all soon.RH

Catch Report
RH fisheries are delighted to announce a sponsorship agreement with" AVID carp" like ourselves AVID are a company with exciting plans for the future, and we look forward to sharing this journey with them. RH
We have had a great couple of session where the carp have gone on the feed, we had 6 fish caught
around the whole lake within an hour, so the bite times are very interesting at the moment. 12 big
fish were caught in one session with Kate Harding showing us how it’s done with a stunning 33-13
mirror, which was 2 ounces short of her pb. Nxt peg was her cousin Stewart Caldicott who had a
new 30 at 30-05 and two stunning scaley carp. Adam Sargent came to catch a 20lber and did so
in style by catching a 28-08 mirror.
We will shortly start introducing the new prototype freezer boilies from AVID into the monument
to establish the bait ready for there release on sale in spring 2013. With the borehole nearly
complete it should be fully operational next week, so the weights of the carp will start increase
and we plan to introduce some new big fish over the winter, when we are happy we have removed
as many fry as poss.
On the feed
Well the lads and ladie have kept me busy this session, with a total of 12 carp out so far it been a great session for most, with me running around the lake to keep up!!! Kate Harding with the biggest and a new 30 at 33-13, which was 2 oz from being a pb!
On the Feed
We have had 8 fish landed already this session upto 33-13, which along with a 30-05, both of which are stunning new 30's. Pictures are on the Gallery already.

Report
We have had a great few weeks fishing despite a few blanks, there has been some great catches of late. A couple stand out for a number of reasons, the first being John Forrester 78, who has fished on 10 occasions without success. This session he had a 31-12 topped by a stunning 33-08, breaking his pb twice in one 36 hour session! Terry Holland showed us how its done by introducing 8 kilo’s of mainline cell, he had a nice brace 34-02 and 32-00 and a 27-00. We also had a lake booking from Ethos Angling Club, Ben Clark (organiser) had 4 fish out, although I am told his peg choice was fixed as he was fishing one of the hot pegs! He had a brace of 30’s going 30-04, 32-13, 22-03 and a 28-14. C Ambrose out did him with the biggest fish going 36-03 and a good session was had by all. The two netting have made a dent with the small carp and with more planned before we allow maggots. Things are improving here all the time, next week see the borehole going in, which will help the water quality and levels. Which inturn will help the fish put on the weight needed to get the high 30’s too 40’s and the high 20’s to the growing list of 30’s in the water.
Fishing
Its been a good few sessions of late, topped by John Forrester 78 who has fished The Monument on 10 occasions with no success until now, where he had a brace of 30's weighing 31-12 and 33-08 breaking his pb twice!! There has been 16 fish out in the last two sessions including four big 30's, the best being C Ambrose 36-03.

21 fish out in the last two sessions!! Since the small carp have been removed, the big girls seem to be more catchable.
Terry Holland was top Rod at the wekend with a brace of 30's at 32-00, 34-02 and a 27-00 from peg 6.
Report
The great news this week is that the big majority of the small carp have been removed, only four small ones were caught around the lake during the weekend, so we definitely got the bulk of them, and with more nettings to follow. The monument fished steady during the early part of the week, the carp went on the munch during the mon/tues session when 11 fish were landed including 3 30's! J Morgan and D Pearson came to the monument with the goal of landing there first 30 pounder, and what a session they had, fishing swims 3&4 Dave landed two at 32-00 and 30-04 whilst John landed the brian bir fish at 35-08. These were both caught on tiger and cell at around 40 yards. What was great from our point of view was that two of the fish were new 30's. The weekend was a lot slower, but it did produce the biggest fish of the week, after a lot of anglers went before sunset, C Spencer stuck it out in swim 9 and was rewarded with a cracking 35-06 mirror, which is a fish featured on the monument wall at 31-00 lb, so good growth particularly for sept. Chris fished cell boilies at 60 yds at the back of the features. The boilies and pellets should start to dominate again now the bulk of the little fish have gone, although tigers are still producing as well. For whatever reason, I have noticed on all our waters of late, that baits fished hard on the bottom seem to be producing most of the fish.

Great news, Small carp removed
The vast majority of the small carp been removed, I must admit there were more than we expected. However you should now be able to use normal boilies without any problems, and beds of pellet and particles might now be a good option. However mainline cell and SBS phase are still are top baits.
Monument switches on!!!
Four 30's upto 35-00 have been landed already this session!! Two of which are new 30's. Also we have just seen the first ever capture of a stunning 19-00 fully scaled mirror
Wind stiring the fish on

Catch Report
The weather has change with a cold strong wind at the beginning of this week, despite this 5 fish have been out this week, with a new session starting a few of the big ones are due out.
Hard hookers/ dumbell are producing the fish at the moment along with tigers.
Catch Report
It is a very exiting time at the monument, as we have plans in place to further improve the fishery and the service we offer to the anglers. We will also be installing our own on site borehole, to ensure the water quality is of the highest level even in the summer months which will maintain full water levels.
Another steady week last week, with 16 fish out, and once again 6 x30’s graced the bank, The best by Charles Sword at 35-00 from swim 5 on cell. Gary Elliott had a 30-09 from swim 3 and Jason James with a 33-00 from swim 9, both of which were on tigers.
Despite the small carp getting there share of the bait every third fish landed is averaging over 30!
The small carp will be removed shortly, so the big girls will get all the bait! We are planning to introduce both a few new biggies and possible another dozen young doubles.
Winter Competitions period Nov 1st – end Feb 2012

New fishery Manager
After over 7 1/2 years of loyal service, Sam Anslow has decided to move onto pastures new! I would like to thank Sam for the contribution he has made to RH fisheries over the years, and wish him all the best in the future.
I'am also delighted to announce the appointment of Alex lister who will be joining RH fisheries as "fisheries manager" on sept 3rd. Alex has studied fishery management, and is also a keen carp angler himself. Alex will be based at the monument, but will also help manage all our syndicate waters.
I have plans to make sure the monument produces even bigger fish in the future, and continues to improve the service provided to the anglers.
The monument is still fishing steady producing 30’s nearly every session. However the small carp are a pain so we are making plans to remove the fry in September and then again after Christmas when the water temperature is well down.
Until the fry are removed tigers are a good option with 2 or even 3 balanced. Alternatively it is double 18mm cell or SBS Phaze 1 producing the fish. We have been in contact with mainline and they will be making us some hard cell hookbaits.
During the week we have had 18 fish landed with 6 30’s landed. Which is a great average for august every 3rd fish being over 30 also when the fry are removed the big fish will pop up in weight which will boost the average weight even further.
Richard Orchard and Ryan Handley both landed braces of 30’s Richard fished swim 6 and landed a 30-14 and a 31-04 together with 2 x 20’s and Ryan fished swim 14 and landed a 30-04 and a 31-00 on tigers.
Also amongst the 30s were Lee Eston with a 32-08 from swim 3 and Richard Kemp with a 31-08 on a gluged boilie from swim 9.
2012 we are taking bookings for 2012 from September 1st.
15th August
Tiger nuts are fishing great at the minute with all the small fry about as they cannot be whittled down unlike boilies, so make sure you bring a handfull at least.
On the plus side with the small fry it should be making the bigg fish feed less cautious as if they leave it the fry will clear it. and this seems to be true as we are gettin 30's caught most sessions see pic gallery!
9th August
The monument has been fishing consistent and producing plenty of 30’s even during this hot sticky period. With Charlie Lacey who fished swim 2 last week having one of the most notable captures. Charlie who had only fished 3 times before coming to the monument landed 3 fish all new pbs for him the fish weighed 28-00 , 33-04and 36-08. Charlie fished simple braid hooklinks with double balanced tiger nut rigs just 35yds out in front of him to land all his fish.
Tigers and large baits 18mm plus is what is needed at the moment and hard hookers as the small fry are pecking away at baits.
We have in stock at the minute both cell and SBS Phaze 1 boilies in 18mm and we also have some SBS Phaze 1 hard hookers.
Bookings for 2012 on the monument start soon as bookings are taken from September 1st so if you wish to book call us on 01952 463141 from then.
5th August
The fishery is still prodicing plenty of 30's even in this sticky heat with 3 x 30's off this session upto 32-00 see pic gallery
2nd August
Double baits seem to be the trick at the moment either 18mm cell or Phaze 1 boilies are working or even tiger nuts to stop the fry whittling your baits.
CARP FOR SALE
RH fisheries will be selling approx 20 magnificent 6 year old fish this winter weighing between 16lb and 24lb with the majority being over 20lb. If you are interested call us on 01952-463141
25th July
A great week on the monument last week with 24 landed including 7 30’s. For July not is the fishing only very consistent but the average weight of the fish is superb.
The best fish of the week was a stunning 35-00 mirror landed by monument regular Roy Field fishing his favourite swim 7. Roy also landed a 25-06 and a 26-03 using mainline grange.
The other anglers amongst the 30’s were:
Grant Hickton 32-00
Kevin Woodward 32-00
Dom Rowley 30-02
Dean Perks 30-04
Ashley Butcher 30-02
Nathan Carley 33-00
Once again all the fish were landed on boilies with SBS Phaze 1, cell and the grange being the best baits
Harder hookbaits or double baits are advised as in some swims on occasions the fry can be a nuisance.
It will be a very exciting Autumn this year on the monument because we have had 8 different fish landed over 35lb since spawning and there is every chance these fish will be around 40at the back end of the year all of which could be new 40’s for the fishery.
We will be taking bookings on the monument for 2012 from September 1st together with open access bookings for next April/ May on Weston and Acton.
25th July
A great session was had the weekend with 9 fish being landed up to 33-00 all the fish were caught on boilies. 5 of the fish landed are on the gallery so take a look!
2012 Bookings
Bookings for the monument for 2012 will be taken from the 1st September from 8:30am
19th July
ON THE FEED,
This mixed weather has got the monument carp on the munch.
Already this session the following fish have been landed 32-00, 29-00, 32-00, 35-00, 26-00, 25-00, 23-00 and 29-08. A superb average after spawning.
19th July
We are very aware there are a couple of shoals of small carp that escaped last years netting, however it is not in the best interests of the big fish to subject them to netting having just spawned. They will be gaining weight now throughout the late summer and well into the autumn, and by the end of the autumn they will be back approaching top weight and more importantly top condition. For these reasons we cannot consider netting the monument until early winter. We may however consider two nettings this winter to ensure we remove as many fry as possible. Bigger and harder hook baits are advisable , or double baits, and tigers would also be worth a go.
NEW BIGGIES we are still planning to introduce two big fish in sept, so far the quarantine period has been successful, and if all goes well we will introduce further big fish this winter.
18th July
Due to a cancelation we have swims free for the following dates
21st/22nd July swims 11, 13, 14, and 15
20th/21st August swims 4, 5 and 13

13th July
Due to a cancelation we have swims 3 and 15 available for tomorrows session 14th / 15th July if your interested please call us on 01952 463141
12th July
It was a great week last week on the monument with 21 fish landed including several 30’s. Once again the best fish of the week was landed on day ticket Wednesday when Dom Rowley fished swim 2 and landed pin scale at a spawned out 35-01.
Although Richard Mchugh landed a stunning 32-00 from swim 1 it was the thurs/fri session that produced 14 fish including 5 stunning 30’s landed by:
Dave Kwietatkowski 34-07
Richard orchard 33-02
Tim Orchard 34-02
Ian Elverston 32-00
David Faulkes 30-15
Firstly the cracker that Dave Kwietatkowski caught from swim 1 at 34-07 is a fish we haven’t seen before at over 30lb so that is great news for the fishery to still get new good 30’s being caught this fish could well be 38+ by November this year.
David Faulkes had a session to remember fishing swim 2 David was hoping to catch his first ever 20lb fish. That was broken by midday with a 23-03 smashed again with a 29-00 and finally Dave landed his first 30 at 30-15. Congratulations Dave well done.
Even though the fish have spawned well in the monument this year the average weight for July is excellent as you can see on our picture gallery at www.rhfisheries.com with lots of 30’s still being caught
For those brave / keen winter anglers the monument will boast an incredible head of 30’s and indeed 35lb+ fish this year.
Also the fry that survived last years netting/ harsh winter are becoming a pain if you use soft hookbaits so wee recommend either a harder hookbait or bigger.
We have got the SBS Phaze 1 Hard Hookers in stock.
8th July
Already this session there has been 8 fish landed and 4 of them have weighed over 30lb
Tim Orchard swim 11 34-02
Richard Orcahrd swim 12 33-02
David Kwietatkowski swim 1 34-07
Ian Elverstone swim 4 32-00
This is a fantastic average weight afte spawning also the 34-07 is a new 30!
Boilies catching all the fish 18mm hookbaits or slightly harder hookbaits recomended, we will have hardened SBS Phaze 1 hookbaits in stock tomorrow!
6th July
The big rarely caught fish seem to catchable on "Day ticket Wednesday's" last week it was christophers fish and today pin scale at a spawned out 35-01! so if you are targeting the big girls, try a day ticket session on a Wednesday .
5th July
The small fry are whittling down soft boilies so we would suggest either fishing hardened hookbaits or tigers or plastic baits.
We have ordered some hardened SBS Phaze 1 Hookers from SBS so should be in the shop shortly.
28th June
The monument was fishing steady in what I would call typical early summer mood with a steady string of good fish being caught every session however it was this last weekend when the temperatures soared that it fished really well I am not sure why 18 fish were landed and a few lost. Mostly just on the Sunday all the fish except 1 were landed on boilies cell and phase 1 again however one angler fishing swim 9 micheal O’Rourke landed a 31-04 on a zig.
But it was terry Holland in swim 7 that did the business terry landed 6 fish weighing 19, 20 22, 26—05 28-08 all on the cell.
The monument fish have spawned heavily with a lot of the known 30’s being caught as high 20’s
On day ticket Wednesday one of our elusive known 40’s called Christopher’s fish last caught over 12months ago was landed by John Smart at 34-02 from swim 14 Don’t forget if you want to fish the monument for just a day call us re Day ticket Wednesdays we have a few spaces available and they have been producing the goods.
On September 1st we will be opening the monument book for 2012 bookings and also in September we will be stocking 2 new biggies.
Great Session 27th June
Just when the weather came in red hot reaching 29 degrees and we all thought it would be a tough weekend the fish went on the feed! 18 fish were landed and a few lost all but one were on boilies. The exception was michael Orourke who landed a 31-02 on a zig.
But it was monument regular Terry Holland who did the business with 6 fish from swim 7 all on the cell. Most pics on the web, more to follow soon.
15th June
The monument is starting to get into full swing after the spawning! I am confident they have got spawning well out of their system having spawned for a couple of days so as they settle down they will need to replenish that lost energy and body weight.
Amongst 13 fish there were 3 cracking 30’s topped by George Grosvenors 37-08, which is a top weight for the flat, scaled half linear. George fished swim 5 also amongst the 30’s were Dave Holland who landed a 32-00 from swim 2 and on day ticket Wednesday Dave Haydock bagged a 32-08 from swim 6.
On the bait front the SBS Phaze 1 is starting to dominate. We ordered 36kg into the shop and sold out during the 2 weeks I am chasing Des for our next order so we will be back in stock this week.
I do think that adding a bed of corn, hemp, chopped tigers etc would help hold the fish if your on them. Day ticket Wednesday we have a few swims for next week so call us on 01952 463141.
Also in September we will be stocking 2 new big fish into the monument.
Cancelations
Due to a cancelation we have swims available on the 18th - 19th June and the 7th - 8th July to book please call us on 01952 463141
8th June
We ae packed out today on our day ticket wednesday and the conditions look good the chap in peg 14 has just lost one at the net. So the signs are good that they are back on the feed.
RH
6th June
The monument fish seem to have finished spawning, and are recovering but not back on the feed yet, as the weekend produced our first blank of the year as the fish still had other things on there minds. However they will be hungry and needing to rebuild there energy levels, so hopefully they will be back on the feed with vengeance this week.
1st June
Todays day ticket wednesday certainly paid off for angler David Haydock as he landed a 32-08 from swim 6 today.
1st June
It's been a superb couple of weeks on the monument, with last week producing 24 fish of which 10 were over 30 lb, and it's boilies that are dominating the catches at the moment, with the phase from SBS and mainlines cell being the top baits. In fact for the last few weeks they have produced nearly all the fish. When you consider all baits with the exception of peanuts are allowed at the monument it just shows how good these baits are. However if your booked on for a 36 hr session then I would consider spombing a particle mix of hemp, corn a tigers. But if you are doing a Wednesday day session, then I would keep disturbance to a minimum a fish boilies only. Jason palmer visited us in swim 3 a landed three 30's weighing 31,38 &39 on the cell, and both the big 30's were fish that are normally mid 30's up in weight, top angling Jason. The size of the other 30's was also impressive
Matt wilshaw 33-06
Matt reed. 33-08
Rob parsons 30-06
James leach.32-08
Ian Murray 30-00
Brian Dunlop 34-08
Phil pace. 34-08
At this time of year the average weight of the fish in the monument is probably over 30 lb because the bulk of the other fish are high 20's.call us on 01952-463141 if you want to book on.
27th May
As of today we are now well stocked up with SBS Phaze 1 boilies and the cell and new grange.
We are also doing and offer on SBS M1, SBS Lobworm and SBS Fruit & Nut we are selling it off at £7 per kg
23rd May
The big Girls are well on the feed. This cooler weather and strong winds has kept the fish feeding heavily.
The weekend saw 12 fish landed including 5 x 30's as follows
Matty Wilshaw 33-06
Matt Reed 33-08
Rob Parsons 30-06
James Leach 32-08
Ian Murry 30-00
All the fish are now being caught on boilies and its the SBS Phaze 1 and cell doing the business!!
Take away Curry
Local indian Cafe Monsoon will deliver to the gates of the Monument if a minimum of 2 meals are ordered menus can be found in the fishery office to order simply call Abdur on 01952 4463344
17th May
The monument is fishing well and is throwing out lots of 30’s I have just looked back through our records and it has produced 22 different 30’s since the start of May alone. One of the most notable during this time was this week with the capture of the monuments first 30+ common weighing in at 31-08 a fish that has been spawned in the monument around 6/7 years ago we estimate. A lot of the 30’s have been mid 30’s and our first day ticket Wednesday produced 2 such fish to Luke Edwards who landed a 32-00 and a 34-08 on the monuments first day only session last Wednesday showing you don’t have to sit it out for long sessions to catch the big girls.
13th May
We have a cancelation for this coming sat/sun session the 14th/15th if you wish to fish simply turn up tomorrow morning.
12th May
The first wednesday session went very well with Luke Edwards landing a cracking brace of 30' s see pic gallery for pics.

What a weekend just when we though it was fishing really well it got even better! This weekend alone produced 18 fish which included 5 x 30's which weighed 30-08, 34-00, 34-00, 31-08, and 35-00. There were also at least 5 fish lost and they are on boilies big time with SBS Phaze 1 and cell catching all the fish. 3rd May
The monument is bang in form this weekend alone it has produced 14 fish including 5 x 30’s in just 36hrs and a total of 27 fish were out during the week with 9 x 30’s. We get some very good anglers visit the monument and often they produce the goods this week Andy Walker paid us a visit and dropped in peg 11. Andy was one of the first to use the new SBS Phaze 1 which we have been baiting up with every week Andy landed a double early doors followed by a 27-00 and during the night landed a 36-10.
Andy introduced approx 40 boilies regularly every hour or so throughout the session to keep the fish interested but importantly he knew the fish were close so made sure he didn’t cast past the fish. Andy is back on next Thursday so we will let you know how he gets on.
At the weekend some of our regulars turned up did the business again Terry Holland and friend Terry Pilling landed 4 fish between them weighing 20-00 24-00 26-00 and a 30-09. But it was Holland junior chris who did the business landing 6 fish from swim 7 which included 3 20’s and 30’s weighing 32-05 32-12 and 34-08. Chris did the business on the cell and white corn but the SBS Phaze 1 is now starting to look like it could be the bait as well. We have a very interesting period coming up because it was the 2nd week in may last year when we had the big snail hatch and 34 fish were landed in a session it will be interesting to see what happens this year. As many of the same anglers have booked on again. I think nature will repeat itself and when snails appear zigs will work again its just a question of timing.
DAY TICKETS WEDNESDAYS don’t forget from May 4th you can fish a 7am till dusk day session just give us a call on 01952 463141 they should be productive as the carp have never been fished for on a Wednesday.
29th April
Get on the Phaze1! Andy walker of SBS baits booked on the monument yesterday, and proved what he has been telling me for sometime, which is the Phaze 1 boilies will do the business on the monument, well arriving late yesterday afternoon, andy soon landed a double, followed by a 27 and then early eve landed a stunning 36-08 mirror, all from swim 11. When a new bait works on the monument it often dominates for sometime, so if your booked on soon get on the Phase 1, which we do sell on site.

After a few good sessions with plenty of 30s being landed it has kicked in, with 13 fish being landed already this session upto 33-04 which was landed by John Herbert from swim 9 fishing cell boilies. Also Lewis Mulholland fishing swim 12 has just landed a 31-09 also on cell.
We are still introducing 10 kgs of SBS Phaze 1 every Tuesday evening together with 40kgs of maize. So with the cell these are the baits to use.
The fish are well spread out at the moment and the monument is producing 30’s every session. Also the big girls are due out we do have the odd swim available so if you want a session call us on 01952 463141.
15th April
The monument is fishing really well with plenty of quality big fish being landed every session. 6 fish have already been landed this session upto 33-00
Our carptalk reports have gone bi weekly so they will only be posted on our site every other week.
SBS Phase 1 and cell boilies are catching most of the fish!
swim cancelations
We have swims 10, 11 and 15 available for thur fri session if you wish to fish this session simply turn up thur morning
5th April
The fishery has finally coloured up for the first time this year, which is a sign the fish are well on the feed.
Since we have been baiting the fishery heavily on Tuesday evenings with maize and SBS Phaze 1 boilies the carp have become more catchable so we will continue to do so for the next couple of months.
From the last 17 fish landed 7 have been over 30lb with the best being landed by Dean Spratt at 35-00 from swim 11 on sweetcorn
Nick Hulme landed a 32-00 from swim 6 on pepperami Matt Clarke landed a 32-00 from swim 15 on boilie and Simon Wilson followed matt into swim 15 and also landed a 31-08
Ian Welton fished swim 7 a 30-02 on sweetcorn, but the only brace of 30’s was landed by Lee Mcdonald in swim 3 who smashed his pb twice with mirrors weighing 31-00 and 32-00 lee was using balanced cell hookbaits over a bed of cell boilies at close range the top baits on the monument at the moment are cell, SBS Phaze 1 and sweetcorn.
Now the fish are well on the feed don’t be afraid to put the bait in as when the lake becomes coloured the fish are without doubt more catchable. We have just cleared the book from swims booked without deposits paid so we do have availability during weekday sessions
28th March
The monument has started to fish well with 10 fish landed over the weekend including 2 x 30's upto 31-08 ( see pic gallery ) Boilies and sweetcorn catching all the fish.
NEW 40's
4 x 40's
We will be stocking 2 new 40's into the monument in September, with at least another 2 before Christmas!
22nd March
The monument is producing steadily but consistently now with fish coming off from all over the lake every session. Since we have started to introduce 10kgs of the SBS Phaze 1 boilie and 20kg of maize in every Wednesday the fish seem to be feeding much more heavily and more confident. We have in stock the new SBS bait the Phaze 1 and are also selling maize and will soon also be selling buckets of pellet and spod mix! It would appear that getting spodding plenty of bait out is becoming the tactic at the moment as well due to them getting used to feeding over beds of bait as the anglers that have been catching the fish the last few weeks have been doing so over beds of particle or boilie. Billy Mckinven fished swim 1 last week and this can be a tricky swim at this time of year but he had 2 fish over the session. He baited fairly well putting in half a kg of boilies over his rods straight away and then slowly trickled anther 1 to 2 kg of bait over both rods throughout the session.
Other anglers who have been catching some of the big girls are Gary Breetz who landed a 31-01 on boilie at the weekend and Mick Smith who landed a 30-03.
Acton Open Access

1st March
A steady week however Kirk Marsden worked his magic again with another 5 fish catch from swim 7 the fish weighed 33-13, 18-00, 21-13, 31-08 and a 21-00. Kirk uses bags of maggots but with plastic corn on the hair. He seems to bait up early doors then just the rigs and bags throughout the session. Tony Round landed a 26-00 from swim 5.
Lee Roberts landed a 21-08 and there were a further 2 fish out.
Already this session there has been 5 fish landed this session Matt Child is fishing swim 6 and it is also his birthday so when he broke his Pb with a 25-10 he was a very happy chap but much happier when his next take was a 35-10 a stunning half linear.
The good news is there has been 3 fish out to boilies George Humpage and his pal from Lichfield landed a 15-00 and a 25-08 on boilies in the dark.
This is the last session that maggots are allowed so its good to se the carp already picking up the boilies.
28th February
we still have some free swims for this weekend of you wish to book please call us on 01952 463141
22nd February
Time to give them some proper bait. We will shortly be receiving 100 kilo's of the new phase 1 freezer boilies from SBS, 10 kilo 's of which will be introduced every weds to both establish a new bait at the monument and give the carp a quality food source. Don't forget the maggots are banned at the end of February, but with the temperatures on the rise many other baits will start to work. We are constantly feeding our stock pools and observe how the carp react to various baits, sweetcorn and maize and hemp are often the best, then baits like boilies and luncheon meat come into there own when the water temperature rises a few degrees. We only start to feed the pellets from mid march, and then only use the best quality low oil pellets, I rarely use high oil pellets at all. We will be selling both buckets and sacks of pellets this year together with freshly cooked maize, it is worth pre ordering with us prior to your arrival. I believe the best way to get the fish feeding confidently and therefore more likely to pick up your rig is a variety of baits and sizes, and with the spombs it is easy to get them out together.
15th February
It's typical winter fishing at the mo, one minute they are having it and the next they switch off, it's the slightest of temperature changes that make all the difference and that has been the case this week. Once again the best spell of weather came at the weekend and 5 fish were landed from three different swims. Top rod once again was kirk mars den who landed three fish weighing 18-04,18-08 and 19-10 which is very unusual for the monument, however they were all mint young fish and another quality piece of angling by kirk, who has now landed 8 fish in two visits, all on the maggots. The maggots are still permitted until the end of February for those booked on. Also amongst the fish were David haddock with a 22-08 and Craig jones with a 21-00. Then the temperatures dropped and it has been quiet all week, even max cottis is struggling mid way through his session at the moment. Iam looking forward to march when the maggots are banned and the boilies start going in, and that brings me on to the new bait from sbs called phase1 which we will be introducing every week, and we have ordered 100 kilo to start baiting from mid march.we will stock the exact same bait in the shop in 16 mm freezer boilies.
8th February
Another fantastic week on the monument for February although it was the weekend session that produced all the fish 11 fish were landed, during the 36hr session. One of our syndicate members Danny Armitage decided to bring his father Colin carping to the monument Colin was well happy early doors when he landed a lovely 26-08 however he was even happier when he landed his 6th fish of the session all on his right hand rod in swim 7. Maggots produced all the fish for Colin which were 26-08, 25-00, 23-08, 19-00, 214-00, 23-00
Danny managed to catch a stunning young common weighing 22-00 from swim 6 , but the big girls were landed opposite on swim 13 by Leighton Woodhall who had a cracking brace of 30’s weighing 35-08 and 32-00. A great bit of angling at anytime of the year but extra special in February Leighton landed his fish on zigs to the middle. Also amongst the fish was Jamie Griffiths who landed a 22-08 and a 17-00 from swim 14.
Both Colin and Leighton win a free session on the monument before the end of February.
Lets hope this milder spell continues as the fish are really starting to move with the occasional one leaping out of the water.
We are sold out for this coming weekend but we do have a few swims in the week so give us a call on 01952 463141if you fancy a session.
We are happy for anglers to just fish a day session if swims are available.
7th February

25th January
It’s been a tough week on all our waters with only 3 fish landed. In the freezing conditions
we have experienced this week combined with the thick fog they are all worth a mention.
Luke Edwards landed a 23-00 from the monument out of swim 6 on a zig and Danny Armitage had
an 18-00 from swim 7. Our only other fish to report was from the avenue where Simon Nichols
landed a 19-12 mirror when the daytime temperatures were just 2 degrees!
EXCITING NEWS
RH Fisheries have purchased some very special and very big new fish!
We have introduced 2 cracking fish into the Sitch weighing 33-08 and 35-00. Also you can
visit our website click on the new Sitch site and see video footage of them being stocked
We have also purchased 4 bigger fish which are absolutely stunning which are being quarantined
at the avenue until the autumn when we will be stocking 2 into the monument and 2 will
remain in the avenue.
We are keeping their weights a surprise until they are landed but they are already very big
as you can see and should be even bigger by the autumn as they will be on a demand feeder
from April – September
Also if this project is successful we have ordered a further 12 biggies for this winter that
we intend to spread between the monument and avenue and the Sitch pictures of all these fish
are on the rhfisheries.com website, and video clips should also be available on site soon.
17th January
We had a great session on the monument this weekend with 11 fish landed and 4 x 30's weighing 31-00, 32-08, 33-00 and 35-02. all pics are on the website pluss all the others were 26lb+
Maggots catching most the fish and a few on zigs. If you want to book on during this mild spell call us on 01952 463141.
Fish Fish Fish Today

We are getting busy but do have places available for the wekks ahead
11th January
After almost five weeks of ice, we finally have good news to report!
This weekend the monument opened it's doors to a ice free lake, and we were packed out, in fact we had to turn anglers away. It was wonderful to finally see anglers on the bank and the fishery re open, unfortunately the carp didn't oblige as it was literally only the night before that the ice finally melted, however it returned on Sunday eve but was thin enough to clear with the boat and by lunchtime the anglers were fishing, and just as it was getting dark Luke Edwards landed our first fish of the year weighing 25-00lb on a 3 ft black foam zig! It just confirms that in the cold weather the carp are often up in the water, which I have to say in these extreme conditions did surprise me. However it proves they are catchable and I think there will be more to come this week as the forecast is a mega 12 degrees on weds and thurs. So to the anglers visiting the monument in the next couple of weeks give the zigs ago. As I am writing this report Luke has just landed a 27-00 mirror and yesterday evening he landed our first 30 of 2011 weighing 33-00. we have taken a photograph of his Zig rig to show you whats doing the business.

20th December
Every year RH Fisheries receives hundreds of new applications from anglers wanting to join our fisheries, so with everything very quiet at the moment we thought we would tell you a little about our waters, and how we operate our waiting lists. firstly we ask you to write to rob hales at the badger hall address, as detailed on the website(www.rhfisheries.com), rob then writes back to every applicant acknowledging there letter and informing them they are on the waiting list, and when we will be back in touch. The first places go to applicants who have been recommended by a existing member, we also allow our current members to move from one water to another within our group of fisheries, which surprisingly happens quite a lot, then the remaining places are offered to new applicants on the waiting list, we will update you whether successful or not, so you can plan your season, it is impossible for us to put a exact time on each waiting list as it is purely dependent on the amount of places that become available in any one year! However even if your second choice water becomes available it would almost guarantee you a place in preferred syndicate the following season.
Weston park
We receive more applications for Weston than any of our waters, probably because the lake is so beautiful and private, located in the private grounds of a stately home.
Size: Weston is 12acres with 13 swims 10 of which are open to the syndicate.
Stock: there are 204 fish present of which 180 are over 20lb with the best fish landed in 2010 weighing 37-14 which was a common, there are plenty of other 30's with most of the bigger ones being commons,35-08 being the best mirror in 2010. The average size of the fish is now about 25lb and steadily growing every year.
Rating: Weston is a easy water, as the fish love boilies, and they consistently out fish all other baits, they also love the floaters, but are a little more tricky to catch on the surface.
Future: the fish are young and still growing well we carry out a drain down and de-stocking every couple of years to control the biomass of other fish and young carp. So Weston is set to keep improving.
Acton burnell
Currently our best water for the monsters! There are two stunning lakes at Acton which are only separated by a dam, the big lake is the lake featured in the wonderful new fishing DVD/programme "catching the impossible" with Martin bowler.
Size: there are two lakes the big lake, which is 17 acres, and the lower lake being 7 acres.
Stock: the big lake holds approx 120 fish of which there are 21 different 40's of which four are commons upto 48-12 being the best in 2010 and 49-04 the best mirror, the average weight being well over 30lb.
The lower lake holds 23 original fish of which 5 have been caught over 40lb this year upto 48 lb with the big common recently landed at 51 lb, her best weight being 53-08 which is the lake record, the average weight being 36 lb, also there are a further 42 stockies weighing between 8 - 14 lb which have huge potential.
Rating: the big lake is difficult and is fished by lots of very good carp anglers, the lower lake is very difficult as these lovely old fish have seen it all, but they are stunning.
Future: there is an amazing head of big fish in the big lake, and the fishery is well balanced with these wonderful old fish still steadily growing, and in mint condition thanks to the handling of fish by the syndicate. A few 50's imminent! We now have 42 mega quality young fish in the lower lake to compliment the beautiful
23 originals and to ensure there are quality young fish coming through which will also take the pressure of the old girls.
The monument
Open to everyone on a 36 hr session ticket, not a syndicate! Probably the highest stocking density of 30's per acre in the uk! Also boasts four 40's and a lake record of 49-00lb. There are over 100 different 30's in the monument amongst a stock of 300 fish! The average weight last winter was 27 lb. However alot of quality anglers visit the monument and they have seen it all, ad to that the angling pressure and it is tricky water, but mega catches are always possible! Eg in a 36 hr session in 2010 sixteen different 30's were landed. To book on the monument call 01952-463141
The avenue
Our fishery with the greatest potential to produce a monster, located in the private grounds of robs home in Shropshire.
Size: 10.2 acres in size with a average depth of six feet, with 17 swims.
Stock: at present there 204 carp in the lake, but to ensure the continued growth of the best fish we will de-stock every year! In only it's second year we are Planning to remove 30 big doubles/ low 20's. The lake record is already 49-08 a fish that has gained 13-08 lb in less than two seasons! Also a fish known as "the little rhino" went from 23-00lb to 38-10lb in 23 months and has only been landed once. Most of the best fish are the big 30's coming through, and many still haven't been caught.
Rating: moderate but starting to become harder as the fish wise up, and the head of fish reduces! Most fish only visited the bank once all season, and over thirty are yet to be landed.
Future very exciting with massive potential, with the management of the fishery purely focused on growing the biggest carp possible. The syndicate only use freezer boilies and pellets to ensure the carp get the best possible food. The avenue will produce huge fish in the future.
The sitch
Our most recent water, that we took over in 2008 and another carp anglers dream! A naturally formed lake .
Size a large beautifully shaped 26 acre shallow fishery, with 21 well spaced swims
Stock created as a runs water with 420 fish present in the 10-24 lb bracket and a few bigger fish unto 35 lb which is a common. These fish are young and mega quality and growing fast.
Rating the sitch is in it's infancy, but already showing signs that it will become a very special fishery over the next few years, we are already seeing lots of 20's coming through, and these fish are monument babies with great potential. we also plan to introduce some new 30's every winter, this year we have ear marked some cracking young mirrors in the 30 - 34 lb bracket. if you are after action with a chance of a 30 then the sitch is the water for you, and it won't be long before it produces some biggies.
14th December
We are now 100% ice free and so will be open for the next few session if you wish to fish simply turn up on the morning
we look forward to seeing you
13th December
The monument is now 90% free from ice so we will be open for 16th/17th and the 18th/19th sessions we have some free swims so if you wish to fish simply turn up.
Matt Hayes 25th - 27th April 2011

7th December
The monument is still frozen solid so we are closed for the 9th and 10th december session and will review the situation then when we will update you further
6th December
Winter can present a whole new set of problems for fisheries. In summer we can have algae issues oxygen issues together with weed and low water levels. However the most serious problems can present themselves in the winter with prolonged periods of ice, which is dangerous on 2 counts firstly silty lakes the gases cannot escape and become trapped under the ice, combined with depleted oxygen levels due to no gaseous exchange due to the ice, can be fatal as was the case with a few waters in Shropshire last year. However I must emphasise that other factors play a big part , such as the depth of water flow of water into the lake under the ice which is good news opposed to no flow. Finally biomass ie the stocking density of the fishery the less the better, so if you have a high stocking density and no flow of water under the ice then you should take precautions this week as the pictures show w have chain sawed areas of ice out on the lake and installed aerators that we will leave on 24/7 until the thaw sets in this eliminates any of the problems mentioned occurring and will give you peace of mind. We use Linn aerators supplied by spirex auqatec. It is a small investment compared to the value of your stock. If however you don’t have a power source which is the case on a couple of our waters then still cut out areas of ice out to allow the lake to breath and the wind back onto the waters surface.
I must stress that it is a very dangerous exercise but with experts in can be done reasonably safely. As the pictures show we work from inside a boat on the ice, we wear drysuits and rope ourselves together and to a 3rd person on the bank just incase.
With the forecast ahead looking like long periods of ice it is worth making the effort.
Also we are giving monument anglers the chance to fish acton , the avenue Weston park or the Sitch. The biggest fish landed in December January or February wins a trip for 2 anglers on any of these waters.
Also if you land 2 fish over 20lb in a 36hr session in December January or Februaryyou win a free 36hr session in the same period (captures must be witnessed by the bailiff)
Last winter plenty of anglers managed to catch a couple of 20’s and win the free session. We look forward to seeing you when the ice has gone.
1st December
The lake is still frozen solid with a covering of snow!
We are now closed until at least 7th December when we will update the web again so please keep checking back here for more updates in due course
Next update
Wednesday 1st december we will post an update with regards the ice
26th November
Well today 25th November we have woken up to a frozen monument however last night several anglers braved the weather and amazingly just hours before the lake froze. Luke Edwards and Kirk Marsden both caught fish both were using critically balanced maggots on a kd rig.
Luke was fishing swim 13 and at 6pm had a take and landed a cracking 26-08. It just shows with the use of maggots the monument carp are catchable even in the most extreme weather. We hope to reopen on Thursday 2nd December
If you are booked on please check out our website www.rhfisheries.com visit monument catch report for the latest info
Top tips
Luke Edwards seems to have got the monument sussed he seems to catch them even in the most extreme conditions. So we asked him for some tips.
Luke said
- leaving rigs in for 10hrs with maggots
- plastic maggots on the shank with 2 live on the hook
- 10lb fluorocarbon hooklinks
- 2 oz inline running leads with a shock bead 1 inch away
- sink the line with a shot 4ft away from the rig
- mini spod ( spodding 4 spods every 4 or 5 hours with dead and live maggots)

16th November
The maggots are still working their magic and catching plenty of fish, to the point where captures the last few weeks have been just as good as weeks in the summer.
With probably the most notable capture this week was by Mark Rotten from swim 9 who baited well, spodding in a gallon of maggots and 2kg of corn and fishing a fake corn kd style with maggots glued onto the back of it. He landed 2 fish a 27-12 and a 38-00. I think the reason mark did so well was the fact he spodded out both live and dead maggots as the dead ones simply sit on the bottom and make an easy meal but I believe that a lot of the time why maggots out fish other baits during the colder months is due to the movement of them triggering a natural feeding instinct. This is also why I believe that it is essential to have live maggots as part of your hookbait.
Also through the winter months during the weekday session we aren’t usually fully booked so if you would like to do just a day session call us on 01952 463141 a day or so before and if there is space you can fish for just a day for half the price of the 36hr ticket.
9th November
Its getting better and better at the moment with 30 fish landed in the last 3 sessions including 7 x 30’s upto 36-08. Which leads me into a lovely story about our good friend and angling personality Des Taylor. Who popped into the monument on Saturday to deliver some SBS boilies whilst at the fishery Des went onto the lake and gave some advice and a very clever maggot rig, to Tim and Colin fishing Swims 1 and 2. The rig includes a large D loop on the back of the hook a small size 8 or 10 on which des glues pairs of maggots spaced well apart. He is of the opinion that the fish think they have crawled away from the pack and take them with confidence. The result said it all. Tim Reeve landed 4 fish 25-02, 29-13, 29-14 and 36-08. His pal Colin Copper in swim 2 also landed a 21-00 and a 31-01. Both had PBs. There were 10 fish landed at the weekend around the lake with Tim and Colin landing over half of them on Des’ rig!
They commented to us how nice it was for such a well-known angler to be so helpful and approachable
The monument produced 7 different 30’s last week as follows
1) Tim Reeve 36-08
2) Dave Radford 31-10
3) Colin Cooper 31-01
4) David Taylor 33-00
5) Craig Vernon 32-08
6) Craig Vernon 31-02
7) Steve Arnold 31-12
November
In conjunction with the maggots is once again proving to be one of our best months this year! We do have some spaces during November so if you want a session call us on 01952 463141
8th November
Another great session at the weekend with 10 fish landed upto 36-08.

Thats over 30 fish in the last 3 sessions, we still have swims available in november
5th November
We have had 9 fish landed already this session upto 32-08 see pic gallery.

Its kicking in as we are mid way through our first session with the maggots and we have more fish landed in a day than were caught last week. Last week we only had 4 fish landed upto 31-02 which was caught on maize from swim 14 by Leonard Fasham.
However already today we have had 6 fish landed and a few small ones including 2 x 30’s upto 31-12. A few have been caught on boilies and maize together with maggots. It would appear the maggot’s spombed regularly in the swim will get the carp feeding and you can either use maggots or try combination baits over the top.
We have got Des Taylor for Angling Times and a couple of the lads from Total Carp visiting us tomorrow to do features on the maggot fishing so we will let you know how they get on.
We have got a few swims available in November so if you want to get on the monument then give us a call on 01952 463141
2nd November
We are Midway through our first session allowing maggots and already 10 fish upto 31-12 have been landed. So the maggots are working, however boilies and maize have also caught this session.
The next few weeks should produce plenty of big fish.
Cancelation
We have a cancelation for 20th /21st November for swim 8 to book please call us on 01952 463141
Swim Availability
We have 2 swims for Mon 1st/ Tue 2nd November and several swims for the Thur 4th / Fri 5th Session as these are the first 2 sessions that maggots are allowed then these should be excellent sessions being the first to be able to use the added advantage of maggots if you wish to book for either of these sessions please call us on 01952 463141
26th October
The harsh frosts we have had the last week have made fishing slow all over and unfortunately the monument is no exception it has been hard going with the best fish this week caught the weekend from swim 5 by one of the Samuel Murray group weighing 28-08. However the real highlight of the week was Iain Mcmillan coming on to do a feature for Crafty Carper and landing a 25lber. He fished the day after we had the first frost of the year, which is some incredible angling! He caught the fish on a zig, which I feel is the rig to be trying during the cold sunny days as the fish will sit up in the water basking to get the most of the warmth.
However if like many anglers you are not a fan of zigs we are feeding maize into the monument on a Wednesday and are now selling 2kg bags of it so if you wish to buy some please call us the session before so we can have it ready and waiting for you in the morning. Maggots are also allowed from next week the 1st Nov and this should make a big difference as the movement of the grubs I am sure triggers a reaction from the fish and causes more takes.
Maize
We are cooking fresh maize every week at the monumet to feed into the fishery on wednesdays and sell to the anglers.
So you can buy it fresh for £3 for 2kgs
Anglers visiting Weston, Acton or the sitch can call to pre order
Monument winter competitions

Note captures must be witnessed by the bailiff to be recognised.
19th October
Its been a slow week at the monument in fact all our waters are fishing slow at the moment. However there were 8 fish landed from the monument and Glen Ogden fished swim 7 to land the stunning ‘Pin scale’ at 37-12
Also at the weekend we had a visit from the Fosters boys Danny Hale and Mez they tried everything but the fish weren’t playing the game, until late on the Sunday when Danny had a 29-00 off the bottom from swim 12 and Mez lost one on a zig. So trying different tactics paid off in the end for the lads in what was a difficult session.
The seagulls often visit the monument now and they seem to get all the baits put out via throwing stick, so spombs seem to be the way forward. I was watching the lads baiting up with them and they are superb! Whether using particle pellet or boilies they are the business.
Also the guy that has never blanked at the monument Gary Chatter was without a take until late afternoon on Sunday when once again he landed a 21-00 chocolate malt and tiger nut boilies.
Maize
We are now going to introduce fresh maize every week during colder months ahead and sell freshly cooked maize at the fishery so it should be worth a go!
Iain Mcmillan is visiting us this week for a magazine feature so we will let you know how he gets on.
Also don’t forget you can use maggots from 1st November.
12th October
Its been a strange week really with only 12 fish landed up to 35-00. The best fish falling to a gentleman on swim 14, we’ve got a great pic but sadly no name.
However after our first introduction last Wednesday of 10kgs of the SBS Fruit and Nut, the first angler to try the new bait was Steve Mooney who turned up on the day in the hope of a cancellation and one angler who had booked swim 14 didn’t show! Steve went on to land 2 fish weighing 21-04 and 28-00.
So the new bait is working and anglers are starting to buy it so more is going in and we will be putting another 10kgs in this Wednesday so the fruit and nut could well be the bait to get on now.
November the 1st is nearly upon us and from November 1st angler on the monument can use maggots. November is also our best month for the big fish they are back approaching top weights and with the added advantage of using maggots we are expecting plenty of big fish in November.
Also worth a go are lobworms as proved this weekend by Simon Wilson, who landed 2 fish weighing 19-00 and 21-08 from swim 14.
5th October 2010
The big fish are starting to show themselves with 5 x 30’s landed this week amongst 16 fish.
The biggest fish of the week was landed by Colin Stevens who baited heavily in swim 7 and after not a bleep all weekend had a take at the death, Sunday evening to land “Popeye” at 37-12!
Also amongst the 30’s were Luke Edwards back on the monument having not visited us for a while Luke got back in the groove landing a brace of 30’s landing 31-02 and a 33-02 from swim 13 using sweetcorn over 5-6kg of spodded particle and corn.
However the best catch of the week goes to Brian Dunlop who fished swim 2 and landed 6 fish up to 31-14. Brian was fishing T1 boilies over a bed of boilies at close range!
Now the fry have been removed it is already noticeable that the fish are putting the weight back on with more and more 30’s being caught each session.
My advice at the moment is to put a couple of rigs out quietly at the start to see if you can get an early take I would then either bait via a throwing stick only if there are fish in front of you and if not then spod a particle mix to attract them to you. Corn chopped tigers and hemp are working well.
We must mention Paul Hick who because he recently had all his tackle stolen set up in swim 15 with just a flat lilo under his sleeping bag on the floor and on the night it rained heavily and Paul’s sleeping bag was soaked. He sat patiently all weekend and last knockings Sunday had a well-deserved take and landed a cracking 31-00. Top effort Paul!!

30th September 2010
A steady week on the monument with 16 fish out for the week several 29’s and Scott Maginn landing the best of the week with a stunning 33-00 from swim 15 chocolate malt boilies did the business for Scott.
It’s a great time coming up at the monument with all of the very big fish i.e. 40 due out and they will be feeding heavily ready for the winter.
Also this week we will be improving the swims i.e. weed and reeds in the margins and improving stone /bark surfaces and all the nets and slings are about to be upgraded.
We are working on some superb new cradles and weigh slings with avid carp and we hope to have their new equipment on site by the end of this year. As I write there has just been a 30-04 and a 35-08 landed so the big girls are already coming out. Pictures to follow in next weeks report.
The SBS Fruit and Nut boilies will be going in from next week so get on the SBS Fruit and Nut.

21st September
Finally 90% of the fry have been removed and the big carp seem to have become a little more catchable.
20 fish came off this week with the biggest being a 33-08 from swim 6 unfortunately we haven’t got the anglers name, he also had a 29-04 and a 21-06.
Brett O’Connell fished swim 7 and landed a 30-08 and it is boilies doing the business especially since the fry have been removed.
Also a range of baits are now catching with the Dynamite chocolate malt and tiger nut bagging a few and in case the magical cell is slowing up we have decided to feed 20kgs per week from the end of September every Wednesday of the new SBS Frit and Nut boilies, to establish a new bait also this bait has already proven very successful at Weston.
On the monument I believe the carp pick up your rig many times before they get hooked. Some anglers are having success at the moment using small running leads with 5” hooklinks. My thinking is that the carp are used to big leads and find them easy to use them to help unhook themselves.
It makes you think as I have just seen a 33-00 landed without a mark in its mouth and its not a 30 known to us!
Carp talks Simon Crow visited us last week for a Carp World feature and although the lake fished hard Crowy worked his magic, so keep an eye out in the Nov/Dec issue and get Crowys angle and tips for the monument.
New Bait
It is noticable that a mixture of boilies are starting to work.
The magical cell could be worth a change
Therefore every wednesday from october the 1st we will introduce 20kgs of SBS Fruit and Nut
This bait is already the top bait on weston so its a proven catcher it will be in stock from end of september!
14th September
By the time you read this report the fry will have been removed from the fishery, which will open up all the options with, regards bait approach and presentation.
It has been a while since you could put a bed of hemp sweetcorn and pellet out and for it to stay undisturbed until the big carp move in!
So particles together with chopped boilie or small boilies are now well worth a go! Also the actual options with regards rig presentation i.e. sticks with groundbait mix’s or even breadcrumb and tuna!! This type of approach will now make a big difference.
The boilie still doing the business at the moment is cell, with double bottom baits proving the most successful. As I write the weather looks good and the fish are very active. This week we had 19 fish landed with 29-00 being the best, lots of big 20’s this week.
Dan Cross landed 6 fish including the 29-00 and 2x 28’s from swim 7 Cell topped with a milky toffee pop up did the damage for Dan.

7th September
A good week at the monument with 18 fish landed up to 37-00, which was the “Burgh” fish, a long male that doesn’t get caught very often. Roger also landed a 27-12 fishing from swim 15.
The fish are starting to put their weight back on now, the number of 30’s in the monument doubles come November. When all the 28’s and 29’s will be back over 30
The best catch of the week was by Trevor Nunn who on the weekend session landed 5 fish from swim 2 as follows 18-00, 23-02, 27-00, 28-01, 29-08. Top angling Trevor as a 5 fish catch doesn’t happen very often these days.
Trevor was using a double 18mm cell bottom bait and introduced 2 kgs over the session. Makes you think if it was the double big baits that made the rig difficult to eject! Food for thought as I believe they eat every free offering you give them.
Also Gary Chatter fished swim 8 and landed a cracking 29-00 although the dial on his scales had warped and the needle jammed at 29-00 so we don’t know the true weight, but it was certainly over 30lb. Gary Has caught 17 fish in his last 6 visits to the monument and never blanked. All of his fish have been caught using dynamite chocolate malt boilies.

31st August
Well it's been a exciting week at the rhfwith the capture of three special fish! The first of which was at the monument when Fishing swim 2 landed a cracking new 40 weighing 40-05 using a 20mm tiger nut boilie, the fish is known as pop eye and rarely gets caught, in fact I think this has only been caught four times in the last five years. She is one of several fish that went over 38lb last year that had hoped would make 40 plus this winter, therefore it is likely the monument could produce several new 40's this winter! The lake fished hard on both the mid week sessions producing only a few fish, but came alive at the weekend with nine other fish up to 35lb as well as the 40 ! Tigers are the top bait at the moment or 18/20 mm cell boilies, and as is often the case at the monument nearly all the fish are being caught in the day. We are now taking bookings for 2011 call us on 01952-463141 .
24th August
Bookings for 2011 open on weds sept the 1st at 9am call in or phone us on 01952 463141. Despite the fry being a pain, anglers are thinking there way around the problem, by using bigger baits ie 20mm or tigers which are also working well.however around the time you read this report the fry will have been removed. This week we have had 22 fish landed with 8 fish over 30lb, the best being a 32-08landed by Paul cunliffe. As I write the lake is coloured and the fish are on the feed, and there is no pattern to fishery at the moment, so it is worth trying a range of

17th August
The monument continues to produce 30's every session, and the going method is still the cell, with some little edges due to the carp fry. However there were still 22 fish off last week with 2 anglers Clinton Jones and mate Steven Briggs doing brilliant both landing a couple of fish and both landing a 30-08 each also. They along with the successful anglers are using either a 18mm cell boilie topped with a small tiger nut, or a larger tiger wrapped in cell paste, then the paste attracts the fish and the tiger ensures you have always got a bait on. However nothing works well for to long as the carp suss methods, baits and rigs quickly, if I was fishing the monument now I would do something different as the time is right for a change. I would entice them and confuse them by putting a mixed bed of bait out consisting of hemp, chopped boilie, corn, small pellets, chopped tigers and tares or chick peas, even almonds, and fish combined baits so the fish find it difficult to associate any one food item as danger. I believe this approach would get them feeding more confidently and hopefully get you a few extra bites. There isn't a specific rig working better than another at the moment, as the monument carp see lots of different rigs every week, so it's worth experimenting with hooklink materials and fixed or running leads, mono flouro hook links also work well.Enjoy your fishing.
10th August
The fishery has been producing steadily the last week with 15 fish landed up to 30-01 by Andy Holder from swim 15. The cell boilies are still working very well but tiger nuts and maize are also catching as guys are having to fish baits that will last as long as possible the pecking at the bait that the small fry are doing. However this problem will be sorted in the coming weeks as we are netting it soon, it will be interesting to see how the fishery responds later this month when the fry have been removed! The monument is fishing very consistently at the moment which could be due to the fry competing for the food, when they have gone the big fish will get more able to feed at there leisure, and probably suss the rigs out more easily! That's one possibility, the other being the presentation will stay undisturbed, with the stick or stinger or bag in place disguising the rig as you intended it to be presented ready to fool the carp! One thing is for sure, we will know the outcome over the next six weeks and we will feed back our findings to you. In the best interest of the big fish, which is our priority we need the unwanted mouths of the fry out. On another point we seldom promote the use of zig rigs, but lately the cell boilies and boilies in general have been so successful anglers have ignored the zigs at times during the day when there have been large natural hatches! As I said we rarely promote zigs as they often foul hook fish and we get lots of fish trailing zigs having been cut off, however for now we are happy for them to be used.
3rd August
The fish have been active crashing and rolling over anglers bait but only 12 fish have been landed this week up to 33-08 as the fry at the moment are feeding heavily also and whittling anglers baits down. Because the fish spawned so successfully this year, there are now lots of fry in the fishery! They have Sussed the boilies and sometimes after a few hours are whittling the baits down, therefore it is worth fishing either double baits or larger hook baits or topping your boilie with a piece of plastic corn or a piece of foam or even a tiger nut. However the big fish are feeding well and being caught, I actually think the sight of the fry eating the bait is making the big carp become more competitive for the food, and as a result they are more catchable. However this advice only applies to anglers visiting the monument in the next few weeks, as we will be netting the fishery before the end of August to remove as many fry as poss. Finally congratulations to Steve Jones. Who after a blank Thursday Friday session in peg one resisted the option of moving into peg 6 which had become available, his faith paid of when the fish moved in on his bait in peg 1 and he broke his Pb, twice with a 29lb mirror and a 33-08m, it proves that patience often works.
Mega swims have become available for this weekend session swims 6 and 7 if you are interested in these please just turn up tomorrow morning.First come first serve.
20th July
A great week and a mega weekend! 27 fish were landed during the week of which 19 came off on the weekend session. Even now after spawning 8 of the fish were over 30lb with the pet finally being caught at a spawned out 39-11 by Steve Fudcher from swim 14. Steve also landed a 19-00 whilst his pal in peg 15 Gavin Moss landed 4 fish weighing 24-14, 24-13, 28-00 and 32-13. Cell, Cell and more Cell boilies doing the damage at the moment with 90% of the fish falling to this mega bait.
Also at the weekend 11 of the 15 swims produced fish with 6 of the swims producing 30’s, pegs 10 and 11 which are not normally the most popular produced 3 fish upto 30-04! So if you are booking on the monument, take your chance as all the swims can produce well.
The fish are very catchable at the moment as they try and put theur weight back on after spawning.
19th July
The monument fished its socks off the weekend with 19 fish landed including 7 x 30's upto 39-11
The 39-11 was the pet spawned out her 1st capture since Sept 09. Cell boilies caught 17 of the fish.
We do have a few cancelations so call us if you want to get on.
Mega new French venue
Only new because it has only been discovered by English anglers this year the lake is a stunning/ mature 25 acre lake located 40mins south of Limoges.
The lake is called “Lac de ribierre” and is French owned by Michel Bonneau
Ribierre holds approx 600 fish, which are growing extremely fast and the current 2010 lake record is 35.6khgs which is about 80-01lb.
There are a number of other huge fish in the 60-70lb bracket with the bulk of the fish in the 30-45lb bracket. so whilst you have a realistic chance of a monster you can expect plenty of action.
The lake is fished from one side only to prevent over casting which makes the fishing more pleasurable, The swims are gently sloping grass banks with mature trees.
The far margin is a productive area and bait boats are allowed ( not rowing boats) the far margin distance ranges from 100yds to 130yds dependant on the swim.
There are 11 swims
I visited the lake in June and was 2 days into a very enjoyable session when a freak rain storm hit the region and we had to pull off( We had already caught 14 fish to 40lbs) I have rebooked for 2011 and I am taking several friends / journalists to promote ribierre so expect it to be well known by Christmas 2011.
Dave and Phil who travelled with me have already rebooked for this September and next year. We will let you know how they get on.
Ribierre offers both bivy fishing March -end May and Sept – mid Nov. All year round you can book a luxury Gite/cottage suitable for 4/6 persons. However carp anglers can only fish Ribierre in June, July and Aug if you book a Gite as this is Michel’s priority income.
From 15th june to end august no lake exclusive bookings and for the rest of the year any whole lake bookings must include minimum of one gite as this is the complexs main business
Detailed below is how to book!
Contact Paul Armfield
Tel: 07836 751753
Email: bathagent@googlemail.com
Cost: 380 euro’s per angler per week!
Paul has amazing pics of the ribierre monsters, which he will gladly email you.
I am helping promote Ribierre because it is a superb venue and my friend Paul Armfield is the exclusive UK booking agent for this fantastic fishery.
You can only book Ribierre via Paul Armfield
Also as many of my syndicate members have already booked Ribierre I have secured a “one week” booking window for any RH Fisheries syndicate members prior to the book opening for 2012.
P.S. This venue has a realistic chance of producing a world record!!

13th July
Boilies, boilies, boilies at the monument as the fish are feeding heavily after spawning. It seems they know what’s best for them as it would appear that they are looking purely for the boilies, over 90% of the fish since spawning have been caught on boilies which isn’t the norm in the winter or prior to spawning. Do they know I wonder what’s best for them at various times of the year. My belief is that they certainly do! Anyway there were 22 fish landed this week with the cell doing the business once again many other boilies are producing but that is certainly the bait at the moment.
The biggest of the week was landed by Roy field at 37-08 a fish we call the flat scaled half linear. Also amongst the 30’swere Michael Carling 31-04 swim4, Ian Monus 33-00 swim 11 and Glynn Ogden 32-08 swim 5. As I mentioned to a few lads this week who had booked onto the monument for the first time in search of a 30, the monument produces 30lb+ fish every session throughout the summer/autumn and when maggots are allowed after November 1st often even more big fish are caught.
The monument book opens on September 1st for 2011 so please either give us a call on 01952 463141 or visit us at the monument with a list of your dates.
DVD IN STOCK
Des taylors In Pursuit of a 40 dvd filmed at the Avenue is now in stock at the monument priced £9.99
6th July
The Monument has fished it socks off this week with 39 fish landed 22 of which were landed in just one session. The 22 fish session saw only 2 anglers blank and 1 angler Bob Hale land 5 fish 2 of which were 30’s up to 33-04. All but 3 fish were landed on boilies over beds of boilie free offerings, and the boilie that is still doing all the damage is the cell. The tactic that seemed to bag those few extra fish for guys was to trim down a boilie and wrap matching cell paste around the bait to give the bait extra leakage and more attraction.
2nd July
Its gone mad this sessionbut this time cell boilies are catching all the fish and lots of it is going in.
nearly every angler on the lake has had action.
Already this session there have been 16 fish landed upto 33-04.
A lot of the fish were caught in the night so we havent got all the pics on the gallery.
weights of the fish caught as follows
19-13, 19-00, 17-00, 22-00, 33-04, 24-00, 32-08, 22-00, 28-00, 24-06, 28-05, 22-09, 22-05, 29-04, 22-00, 21-04.
Also we have a cancelation for this weekend swims 7 and 11 to book please call us on 01952 463141
1st July
With this low pressure moving in the fish are really on the feed already this session there have been 6 fish landed to 32-00. The fish have all fell to cell over beds of bait.
29th June
Now the fish are back on the feed and being caught we can see they have spawned heavily. However we still had 6 x 30’s landed this week up to 34-02 which was caught by Danny Walker from swim 7 on cell boilies. Infact on that session the smallest fish caught was 32-00.
As I write the water is coloured and the fish are turning the bottom over so don’t be shy to give them plenty of bait. Because of there liking of snails, I think a bed of hemp could prove successful at the moment a mega bait which the fish rarely see here.
One of our regulars Roy Field lost a very big fish at the net this week which a couple of anglers believe they recognised as the “Pet” which would explain why she hasn’t been out for a while. Finally one last little edge, which is proving to make a difference, is the clay leads we are selling at the monument. Totally camo against the lakebed so well worth a small investment for what could make a big difference. We hope to see you soon!
25th June
With this hot weather the fishing is hard but the lake is still producing just this session there have been 3 x 30's out up to 34-02. of these 3, 2 of the fish came off the bottom on cell boilie hookbaits with 50 -100 freebies scattered around.

21st June
Now the fish have finished spawning the fishery has settled down, and fishing is becoming more consistent. 20 fish were landed this week and its boilies catching all the fish. The lake is coloured with the fish turning over the bottom looking for bait so don’t be shy about putting plenty in.
Top rod was Craig Large who fished swim 5 and landed a brace of 30’s weighing 32-00 and 34-08 on the cell boilies.
Cell boilies and cell paste and SBS M1 and Lobworm boilies are our top baits at the moment. I think it would be worth baiting heavily at the start of the session and waiting for the fish to move onto the bait.
18th June
The monument is fishig well at the minute with 11 fish off so far this session (only 4 fish pics on the web as most were caught during the nite) Good news being 9 of the 11 fish were caught on boilie hookbaits with scatterings of boilie freebies
15th June
The monument was shut last week to allow the fish to spawn and recover. They spawned heavily on the Friday and Saturday and so from last Monday we have been feeding the fish heavily with 50kg of pellet and some boilie the SBS lobworm. Also while we were shut we did general maintenance of the lake and so all is looking good for re-opening. The first couple of sessions have already produced a few fish so we will give you all the info in next weeks report.
10th June
The fishery is looking superb! The lake is very coloured as the fish are back on the feed big time! We have been feeding 50kg of pellet and 10kg of SBS Lobworm boilies every day at the monument.
It looks good for the anglers on from saturday. My advice is to fish boilies and plenty of pellets on the bottom.
We have also sprayed the wed to prevent any weed beds becoming established in the lake.
7th June
The carp started spawning last week heavily so we closed the fisheryon friday. They have stopped as of today so we will be feeding in 50kg of pellets and a mixture of SBS lobworm and M1 boilies every day this week.
The Monument re-opens next sat 12. We have 1 swim free swim 15 please call to book.
The fishery looks great and we look forward to seeing you all.
Mega week available in the Boathouse at Weston
13th - 20th June
Last week the boathouse produced 26 runs 21 fish upto 29-12 for Gary Leek see wetson pic gallery. Please call us on 01952 463141 if you are interested in this week.
1st June
A steady week after last week’s madness with 11 fish landed up to 38-08. Tony Round caught the 38-08 from swim 6 on a zig! However most sessions last week the lake has been very coloured and I think anglers are fishing zigs at times when bottom baits would be more productive. My advice is to try at least one of each to prevent missing out on the bottom feeding fish. Coloured water means they are feeding heavily.
It’s a classic case of zigs caught most of the fish, because nearly all anglers had 2 zigs on. When I honestly think bottom baits over beds of bait would out fish zigs. To prove my point Paul Gibbons fishing from swim 2 on a tiger over bait has just landed a 36-00. So get on the bottom get them feeding colouring up the water, then they become very catchable.

RECORD SESSION
This weekend the monument broke all its own records for the amount of 30’s caught in one session.
19 x 30’s up to 38-10 where landed with 7 over 35lb. Also another 14 big 20’s were landed.
1 angler Ian Murray landed 6 x 30’s as follows in a day 34-04, 32-10, 35-00, 38-02, 37-00, 37-10.
But it was the clever zig rig devised by Marcus Brotherton that caught the fish. In fact everyone of the 33 fish landed were on either the exact rig or a variation of what I now call the ‘Brotherton zig rig’ Marcus himself landed 3 x 30’s 35-12, 31-08 and 38-10.
The black foam zig rig incorporates a rolled piece of double-sided tape glued onto the end to imitate a snail and it looks superb in the water.
I think the fish are close to spawning and were up in the water enjoying the 28-degree lakeside air temperature and were feeding on naturals and this rig took them apart. With such a massive head of 30’s in the monument these types of catches are always possible but as this rig proved it takes something clever to make such catches possible.
THEFT
During the Mon18th /Tues19th session this week someone has stolen the underwater features picture from the toilet block!!

18th May 2010
The monument has finally kicked into action, when the warmer weather arrived the fish started to feed. 18 fish were landed last week with 7 x 30’s amongst them.
Paul Meredith “Mez” landed a cracking couple of upper 20’s and a stunning 39-15. That’s what you call honest weighing!
Mez used sweetcorn fishing from swim 12, John Godwin in swim 8 landed a stunning brace of 30’s weighing 31-12 and 34-10. Once again sweetcorn over spodded bait did the trick. The 34-10 was a fish I haven’t seen caught since November 2005.
The fish are well on the feed now, so good beds of mixed bait will work get the fish coloring up the bottom and they are more likely to pick up the rigs.
Already Monday night alone 11 fish have been out. upto 37-10
17th May
The Monument has come to life with the start of this warm spell with 10 fish off the weekend session 3 of which were 30+ upto 39-15. One of the 30s hasnt to our knowledge been caught fornearly 5 years!! see pic gallery for some of the fish.
11th may
A slow week at the monument with cold north easterly winds biting all week. However once again of the 8 fish landed 4 were over 30lb.
Phil Pace landed a brace of 30’s including a 36-10. Phil fished from swim 13 and also had a 30-00 his tactics were cell boilies over plenty of freebies in the middle of the lake.
With the water still very cold for May the sweetcorn is still working well however the boilies are catching more and more fish every week.
Due to an angler letting us down we had just posted some cancellations for the weeks and months ahead so if you want a swim on the monument please call us on 01952 463141, as it will kick in big time as the weather finally warms up!
Leads
We sent some of the clay away to a lead maker to match to! The leads have come back and are superb, i really think that on the monument and the avenue they will make a big difference. Available in 2oz and 3oz at £1.50 each.

4thMay
A better week last week with 20 fish landed of which 5 were over 30lb, The best a 37-5 half-linear falling to Lee Wragg on cell boilie. This fish is now at its top weight having gained around 3lbs extra since its last capture. If this is true with all the fish if the Pet gets caught at he right time we could be looking at the monument’s first 50! As this last week was a much milder week the boilies started to kick in and all the fish landed on the Monday and Tuesday were landed on cell.
The tactics of most of the anglers seemed to be spod out a tight area of bait which was mainly sweetcorn chopped and whole boilies with either boilies tipped with the SBS corn poppers or simply corn.
27th April
The Monument continues to fish steady with 10 fish landed last week of which 3 were over 30lb. The biggest was a 33-10 caught by Jon Hudson and Brian Rock had a 31-10.
Both of these fish were landed on sweetcorn, which is always a banker at the monument. However when these cold nights and frosty mornings move off, I think the boilies will do the business.
.In fact already this session we have had 3 fish out including 2 x 30’s upto 37-05 and they have all come out on cell boilies! This is a fish known as the half linear and its previous best weight was 34-08. Monument regular Terry Holland had a 21-00 last week over 3kg of cell boilies. the monument’s big girl known as the pet is due out so hopefully we will get our first 50!!
My tip at the moment is spod heavily at the start and sit on a bed of bait and get them feeding.
20th April
The fish in the monument are really starting to get on the feed, but the best is definitely yet to come. The average size of the fish in the monument is now 30lb! In fact this last week it has been over 30lb and many of the 30’s are now good 30’s. Amongst the 30’s were.
Jon Button 33-10 swim 6
Steve Ferneyhough 35-10, 32-14 swim 8
Paul Sellens 35-15 swim 15
Brett Brown 33-10 swim 8
All pics are on the website! We do miss some captures, if the bailiff is visiting Weston park or the Sitch at the time.
The baits doing the business at the moment are sweetcorn, cell and M1 boilies and zigs when the sun is strong! I doubt there is another day ticket water in the country where every other fish is over 30lb.
Also the fish are in immaculate condition and still growing well, the biggest fish known as the "pet" is yet to be caught this year.
The monument fish are clever, so take time to disguise your rigs as much as possible rub clay off the lake bed along your hooklink’s to help cammo them up
19th April
We have a swim available due to a cancelation on the 22nd 23rd session to book please call us on 01952 463141
15th April
Cancelation! we have swim 3 available for this weekend due to a cancelation if you would like to book this swim please call us on 01952 463141
13th April
Its been our best week so far this year with 19 fish landed during the week with 7 x 30’s! The best of which was 35-00 male mirror landed by Luke Edwards.
Luke also caught a 27-08, 28-12, and a 31-00 fishing swim 13.
Other anglers amongst the 30’s
Rich Lampitt 33-08
Steve ???? 33-10
Marcus Brotherton 31-04
The monument continues to surprise us with new 30’s most weeks but this 31-04 caught by Marcus Brotherton was a truly spectacular fish.
The fish are being caught all around the lake and sweetcorn and boilies are doing the business.
We will feed maize and M1 Boilies on Wednesday to keep the fish on the feed.
To book call us on 01952 463141 or visit our website www.rhfisheries.com for cancellations.
9th April
The monument has switched on this session with & fish out 3 of which were 30 lb plus up to 35-00. However we have had a cancelation for tomorrows session anyone wishing to fish it can simply turn up in the morning. Also we have just had a cancelation for mondays session. to book that please call us on 01952 463141
6th April
After a slow start to the last week due to dropping temperatures, heavy rain and even some more snow it all turned around on the last session of the week with temperatures finally breaking into double figures the fish turned on. As I write there have so far been 5 fish off this session a 24-12, 28-00, 28-08, 33-08 and a fish known, as Christopher’s fish caught by 16 year old Rhys Williams, on his first ever visit to the Monument. The fish was last caught June 13th 2009, its up in weight since its last capture however still lower than we would of expected due to the massive weight gains of some of the fish. This could possibly be due to it trailing a rig around for a time.
Tactics that are working at the moment are small beds of chopped boilie and particle fishing either maize or a double boilie hookbait over the top. As the temperature continues to stay warm and the fish get even more active more and more bait will be needed to hold the fish in your swim.
1st April
Dates available during this month dueto cancelations:
5th - 6th April swim1
8th - 9th April swim4
15th - 16th April swims1, 15
26th - 27th April swim11
to book any of these swims please call u on 01952 463141
30th March
The monument continues to fish steady, with big fish coming out most sessions, but it hasn’t really switched on yet.
Several fish were landed during the week with the highlights being Matt Wilshaw with a 29-00 on a tiger nut and Lee Simms fishing from swim 4 caught 3 fish weighing 27-00, 31-10, and 35-00. Both the 31-10 and the 35-00 were new 30’s which shows just how much weight the fish have put on in the last year.
Lee used cell boilies and regularly spodded various baits over the spots, to get the fish in feeding mood.
Boilies corn and tigers seem to be producing the fish at the moment.
I would definitely try maize chopped boilies and hemp and even pellets now the water is starting to warm up. I am confident we will see more big fish caught this week.
23rd march
Well at last we have big fish to report from all our waters!
At the weekend monument regular Rich Lampitt landed 2 stunning mirrors weighing 27-00 and 30-02 the 30-02 was a new 30! Rich used zig rigs 3ft off the bottom. But as that session came to a close it became obvious the fish were feeding heavily on the bottom as you could see large areas of colour in the lake.
Roy Field who is mid way through his session as I write has landed a stunning brace of 30’s weighing 34-08 and 39-00. Roy was using cell boilies lard on the bottom in conjunction with a stringer and a bag of crushed boilies. The great news about this capture is that the 34-08 isn’t a fish on our fishery wall, and the 39-00 was last caught at 34-00.
It would appear the monument carp are well up in weight, so we are confident there will be lots of 30’s put soon and a realistic possibility of a few new 40’s. Fingers crossed our biggest fish " THE PET" will break 50lb!
Our best advise at the moment is follow Roy, and focus on the bottom baits present the hookbait well over bait they cant resist, add some hemp and sweetcorn in your spod mix or stick mix plus fresh sweetcorn juice as they love it
A NEW "BIGGIE"
Roy Field has just landed a 39-00 mirror which is a fish on our photo gallerycaught by Chris eccles at 34-00
Congratulations to Roy, on such a stunning fish. Sure to be another new 40 soon! How big will the known big girls be?
Roy caught the fish on a cell boilie over a bed of boilies
22nd March
Some of the bigger fish are starting to come out, the lake has become coloured for the first time so keep an eye on the pic gallery for some more biggies. See pic gallery for pics of 2 amazing fish one of which is another new 30 that came out yesterday.
19th March
The fish are finally showing and feeding with4 fish landed already this session upto 31-00 and a 32 landed which was foul hooked.
Sweetcorn and plenty of it doing the bussiness, firget the zigs get on the bottom baits.
16th March
Now is the time! As I sit and write this report I am looking out on the fishery and I have seen 2 big fish jump in the last 5 minutes. Which are the first fish I have seen for months.
They are well and truly on the move so those anglers who are booked on from thurs onwards should have a great chance.
I would leave the zig rigs now, and concentrate on getting them feeding on the bottom. Give them baits they can’t resist chopped boilies, sweetcorn, hemp, etc.
I nearly forgot that Paul Cunliffe landed a 22-07 last Tuesday from swim 6.
11th March
Now the weather is picking up and the forecast ahead finally looks good we will be introducing quality pelletinto the fishery on a Wednesdayto get the fish feeding.
PELLET OFFER
We will shortly be selling large camo buckets with 5kg of the same pellet for £11.99 on site at the Monumnet
11th March
TOP SWIMSAVAILABLE FOR THIS WEEKEND.
Due to a cancelation we have swims 6 and15 for this weekend 13th - 14th march to book please call us on 01952 463141
9th March
Gary Brown endured another cold weekend fishing at the monument to land a personal best 29-14 with ice on the fishery both Saturday and Sunday mornings. The conditions were tough however, Gary persevered with zig rigs and had the take midday on the Sunday fishing out from swim 13.
Small black zig rigs with a redmouth snaggerline aliner seem to be the best tactics at the moment.
Gary’s friend in peg 12 hooked a fish trailing a zig rig and played what he said was a very big fish to the net, when unfortunately the hook fell out.
Also an angler in swim 3 foul hooked 3 fish on zigs. I am no zig rig expert but would recommend if this happens you shorten the depth slightly that you are fishing the zig.
Two of our syndicate waters have produced fish this weekend so the carp are certainly waking up. With the cold nights hopefully behind us, now is the time to get out there as I am sure you will shortly be reading about big catches from all over the country.
8th March
Wellwe finally had a fish caught by GaryBrown from swim 13 a new PB for Gary at 29-14 (See pic galley)
Also his friend fishing swim 12 lost a fish behind the bar, and also hooked a fish trailing tackle on a Zig Rig and thankfully the hook came out at the net, the lads said it was a big 30!
Once again we have got cat ice covering 60% of the lake this morning, however i believe the sub zero nights are finally coming to an end.
I think we are very close to the fishery switching on! Zigs at 3ft sem to be the best tactic at the momentand sweetcorn.
RH
25th February
The Fishery has thawed now and the anglers on fishing are getting plenty of liners so im sure it wont be long before the fish are being hauled out again.
8th February
Finally fish started to get caught!
Luke Edwards had a 21-04 on Friday and then we had 6 fish out the weekend, all except 1 of the fish are on the web now. The fish we didnt get a picture of was a young common est 8lb.
The anglers who caught were:
Luke Vanesswim 1324-00
Darren Stevens swim 729-12
Darrens Daughter swim 526-04
Mike Lloydswim 1224-00
21-00
8-00
All of the fish were caught on zig rigsfished between 3ft and 4ft off the bottom with some anglers spodding maggots over the area.
Wehave got some swims available for this thurs/ fri session and 2 swims available for the weekend 13th/ 14th call us on 01952 463141 should you wish to book.
21st January

12th January
We are still frozen with a covering of snow and looking at the 7 day forecast. It looks like we wont get any serious thaw until at least Saturday therefore the earliest we are likely to reopen is Thursday the 21st January. See our website for regular updates www.rhfisheries.com click monument catch report. If you have booked on before that date please call us on 01952 463141 to transfer your booking to another date or arrange for a full refund.
During 2009 we had many superb anglers visit the monument and as they will all tell you the fish don’t give themselves up easily. However 3 anglers seemed to catch consistently throughout the year so we thought we would ask them how they did it and what tips they could give anglers fishing the monument in 2010.
This is what they had to say!
Luke Edwards
Luke landed 42 fish over 30lb from the monument in 2009. Luke’s best fish this year was 42-00 a fish known as the cream fish.
His best catch was 9 fish in 36hrs which included 1 x 40 6 x 30’s and 2 x 20’s the average weight of the 9 fish was 31-00.
Tips
Long hooklinks
Slack lines
Balanced baits
40yds in certain swims is a distance now producing a lot of fish
Re-cast regularly
Top baits cell boilies, PP60 boilies and sweetcorn.
Favorite swim 6
Jon Hudson
Jon had a fantastic year on the monument in 2009 he didn’t keep count, but landed lots of 30’s upto 36-04!
His best catch in 36hrs was 7 fish which included 4 x 30’s
Tips
Keep it basic
Top bait sweetcorn must be green giant
He has noticed boilies can be a better bait at night
Jon uses 3 kgs of sweetcorn per visit
Sit and wait for them to move onto the bait
Running rigs
Slack lines
Small hooks size 8 are his favorite
Favorite swim 13
Roy Field
Roy enjoyed a fantastic year in 2009 on the monument in fact I think the only water he fishes nowadays is the monument.
His best fish in 2009 was a 35-08
Best catch was 3 fish with another 3 lost in 36hrs ( the losses were due to an umbrella that had blown into the margins of swim 7 which has now thankfully been removed)
Top baits SBS M1 Krill and crab from Hinders and Cell. Roy is aware that getting on the going bait can reap rewards.
Nash fang hoks
Ace camo core gravel hooklinks
Snowman rigs together with PVA bags of whole and crushed boilies.
Roy uses approximately 1kg of boilies per session
Casting to showing fish
All food for thought
These are great guys and good anglers who will be willing to help you should you be fishing near then when you visit the monument.
I would also like to add a couple of ideas that could make a difference in 2010
Try overweighting your hookbait as the fish in the monument pick the baits up and a heavy bait makes it harder for the fish to eject.
Fish a supple hooklink that not tight on the bottom ie have some slack between the lead and the bait to allow the fish to suck the bait well into their mouths easily.
We Hope to see you in 2010
11th January
The lake is still totally frozen with a covering of snow looking at the forecast i think it will be saturday 16th before we get any proper thaw therefore my best guess is that it will be thurs 21st before we reopen. However regular posts will be updated on this report.
If you have missed a session due to ice then please call us on 01952 463141 to either transfer your booking or arrange for a full refund,
8th January
We are still iced over and so will now be closed for the monday/tuesday 11th/12th session if you were booked on for then we will call you onmonday to rearrange your booking.
5th January
The lake is now closed until Monday 11th. We will post a further update on friday
4th January
We are now approaching 2 weeks under ice with no sign of it thawing! In fact we have got –4 every night this week. However by the time it thaws the fish will have had a long break without any pressure or any food. Whilst they wont eat lots of food in these temperatures, I would guess a few maggots would certainly tempt them after 2 weeks or more of nothing.
So I am predicting fish will be caught from the off when the ice finally melts.
However we are always working on the fisheries and improving the waters themselves. At the monument this winter we have re-built swims 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and have opted for a stone finish which allows them to stay clean and drain well. Also they have been enclosed with railway sleepers which encloses the swims and creates a wind break for the bottom of the bivvies and the hooks we have installed on top of the sleepers create tying points to secure the bivvies during windy sessions.
Also to improve the fishery we removed a huge percentage of this years fry which had survived in record levels this year, over 3000lbof small carp were taken out to ensure they don’t overload the biomass of the fishery and to prevent anglers bait getting damaged by small carp.
After the fry were removed not even the maggots were getting damaged which indicates there are very few left.
The carp in the monument are still only young and are still growing well in 2009 the average weight was 28lb+ with easily 100+ 30lb fish present in the winter together with 4 known 40s upto 49-00. The biggest fish called "the pet" hasn’t been caught since august when she was at a spawned weight of 45lb the monument boasts at least another 12 fish over 36lb which are all potential new 40’s this year.
We will keep working on the fishery and improving the water to ensure the fish continue to grow.
3rd January
Monument closed until thursday due to ice! Please call the fishery office monday to transfer your booking or to arrange a refund.
1st January
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
But unfortunately the Monument is still frozen, therefore we now hope to open on Monday 4th January.
27th December
Unfortunately the monument is still frozen solid. We hope to re-open on saturday the 2nd of January. Please call ahead for further information.
Happy New Year!
21st December
Unfortunately the monument is frozen solid and so we have had to cancel all sessions upto and including the boxing day session. We hope to reopen the 28th/29th session, we will open at 7:30am in the hope the ice has moved off. There are 5 swims free so if you wish to fish this session simply turn up on the day!
Merry Christmas from all at RH Fisheries. Look forward to seeing you in the New Year
18th December
Due to a group cancellation we have only got two anglers on this session and they have both caught despite freezing conditions.
Luke Edwards has had a young common at 23lb and Stuart Edwards has had a 23lb mirror (see pic gallery) The monumentis a tremendous winter water as the magots work so well.
We are nearly full at the weekend so hopefully we could get a Christmas biggie!!
17th December
Please see weston catch report for its latest update
8th december
The monument seems to be fishing better now than it did in October! There were 10 fish out this week upto 39-10 which was a fish known as pin scale and was caught by Kirk Marsden fishing swim 13. 3 anglers have already taken advantage of the winter incentive and won a free session.
Glen Ogden fished swim 2 and landed a 29-00 and a 35-00 Rob Mangan fished swim 6 and landed a 21-00 and a 31-00 and Stuart Edwards fished swim 5 and landed a 23-00 25-00 and a 29-00.
Top angling for December and they all deserve their free 36hr session.
When Stuart Edwards fished on thur/fri session we were working on the fishery at the time, and when we photographed his 29-00 the unhooking mat and weigh sling were frozen.
All of the fish landed were on maggots and varying rigs some anglers use supple braid hooklink’s and others mono also some were using running leads whilst others used fixed. Most are now fishing the maggots on the hook combined with a plastic maggot opposed to the maggot clip.
If your after a big winter fish in mint condition without any mouth damage the monument is a tremendous winter water with almost every other fish being other 30lb. The weekend fish weighed 21-00 29-00 31-00 35-00 39-10
7th December
The swim building will be completed tomorrow, therefore swims 7,8,9,10 are now available for this thurs frifor anyone who wants to fish. 6 fish to 39-10 cam out the weekend and theres already been 1 out today
4th December
Only 3 days in and yesterday 3rd of december Stuart Edwards became the first angler to win a free session at the monument with 18hrs of his session to go.
Stuart is fishing swim 5 and has already landed 2 stunning mirrors weighing 26-02 and 27-08. Top angling stuart in very cold conditions.
Interestingly we were swim building on the lake the same day so maybe the noise got the fish moving.
As i write Stuart has just landed a 29-02 which was caught when the mat and sling were still frozen (see pic gallery) and hes got plenty of time for more.
We have a couple of swims free for mon/tues 7th/8th session. And we should be finished well ahead of schedule with the swim building and will be completed by tues so have swims free also for thur/fri to book please call us on 01952 463141
1st December
This week’s report is mainly all about the monument despite the cold and wet weather the fish are still coming out the last 3 sessions have produced 11 fish of which 5 were over 30lb, and I think at this time of year they are all worthy of a mention.
Luke Edwards had a brace of 30s weighing 35-04 and 31-00 together with a 20.
Danny Armitage landed a 36-04, Matt Wilshaw had a 30-02 and Kevin Williams landed a 30-08. Three of these 30’s were new 30’s for the fishery including Danny’s 36-04 which shows how well the carp were doing feeding on the fry.
Most of the other 6 fish were upper 20’s nearly every other fish at this time of year is over 30lb at the monument.
The fish were caught from all over the lake and all were fooled by maggots with the water now very clear the maggots are far more effective and it would appear we removed 90% of the fry as even the anglers using maggots aren’t getting any problems.
In effect now until the end of February is our winter promotion every angler who lands 2 fish over 20lb in a 36hr session wins a free session in the same period.
Luke Edwards proved it can be done last week when he landed 3 from swim 4.
Starting this week we are rebuilding swims 3 around to 10. The swims will be enclosed with railway sleepers and re-surfaced. All the existing bark and stone will be dug out and then the swims will be re-surfaced with tarram and a flat stone as opposed to bark. This will ensure the swims stay clean and dry throughout the winter.
30th November
Despite the cold weather another 2 x 30's were caught at the weekend.
Almost every other fish is over 30lb at the moment with most of the 30's being new 30's.
Sytch
Total carp is out now! featuring a 6 page article and front cover of neil smith at the Sytch!!
27th November
Since the removal of the fry the fishing has contined to improve with 6 fish landed this session.
swim 6 26-12 and a 29-00
swim 13 24-00, 29-04 and a 36-4
swim 15 29-02
all on maggots. Anglers on in the next few weeks could experience some great fishing if this trend continues.
26th November
Luke has proved that multiple cathces are still very possible during the colder conditions of the winter months catching 3 fish in a session. Not only that 2 of the fish were 30lb+, he landed a 20-00 a 31-00 and a 35-04 from swim 4 during the mon/tue session.
And the Monument continues to improve as there has already been 3 fish off this session upto 29lb see pic gallery.
24th November
The monument continues to improve at the moment with 9 fish landed last week of which the smallest was 22lb and the best a 33-04 caught by Jon Hudson from swim 5. Since we removed all the fry the water has cleared allowing the carp to both feed on the maggots easier by sight and without the competition from the fry.
All the fish landed except one were on maggots! However I do believe that at night time boilies are a better option due to the smell attractors.
I think the catches will now continue to improve now the carp cannot gorge themselves on the fry they will become more dependant on anglers bait.
As I write Luke Edwards has just landed a stunning 35-04 mirror in fantastic condition from swim 4. The monument carp may be difficult to catch but they are in mint condition when they do get caught. Luke’s fish was caught September 08 at 32-02 by John Weir.
11th November
The fishery netting today was a huge success! We removed an amazing 3000lb of fry, which clearly is why the carp were so difficult to catch.See pic gallery of just one sweep of the net. The maggots should now do the business with a huge percentage of the fry removed. All the big carp netted were in mint condition and peak weight.
Snag
We also found the mystery snag in swim 7, it turned out to be a fishing umbrella absolutely covered in tackle all of which has now been removed so the swim is snag free.
10th November
Finally the monument has started to come alive producing 6 fish and 2 30’s upto 33-08 in the last 36hr session, with 2 anglers catching new PBs. Quite what has changed I don’t know but 4 different swims produced, and as usual fish were still rolling and crashing, but this time they were catchable. All the fish were caught on maggots which are definitely the edge at the moment, yet during the first week they didn’t really work.. I think the answer may be the drop in temperatures has stopped them chasing fry and made them go for the easier to eat food source of maggots.
With the fry due to be removed by the time you read this the weeks ahead are looking good at the monument, don’t forget maggots as part of your armory.
WINTER BONUS
Last year we offered a free Acton session for the biggest fish.
This winter we are offering a free 36hr session to every angler who lands 2 fish over 20lb in 1x36hr session between the 1st of December2009 and end of February2010 ( free session must be taken during this time also) fish must be weighed and witnessed by the bailiff
Also starting at the end of November we will be rebuilding swims 3 to 10 to make the more comfortable.
Finally I am away fishing in France next week so the catch report will miss a week but for the latest info give John a call on 01952 463141.
Monument Finally Switches on!!
Six fish were landed on saturday upto 33-08. All on maggots.
FREE SESSION OPPOURTUNITY
Any anglerwho catches 2 fish at the monument over 20lb during 1 36 hr session between 1st December and end of February wins a free session during the same time!! ie free session must be taken before the end of February.
FishMUST be weighed and witnessed by the baliff!!
3rd November
Another tough week on the monument, but the fishing has picked up a little and Paul Forrester certainly went home happy with a stunning 30-10 caught from swim 5 on a zig rig. Although the maggots haven’t had there usual impact, however Paul’s fish was coughing out maggots on the mat! Also this fish is well up in weight as Marcus Brotherton landed it last autumn at 28-08 which means the big girls are likely to be very big.
Also Chris Eccless has just landed a 21-04 on a boilie from swim 6 so hopefully this cooler weather will get them back on the bait. I am still of the opinion that the carp are eating the fry which are coming out soon. I predict the anglers who follow thew netting will experience some great fishing.
He couldn’t have come at a harder time, but Iain Mcmillan arrives today for a 24hr session, which is being filmed for, sky TV. Last time Iain visited us he caught plenty but with the monument carp fry feeding at the moment it will be a tough challenge for him. We will update you next week.
27th October
A I write this update, looking out over the monument I noticed Darren Davies in swim 4 playing a fish. I walked round to photograph the fish and found a lovely 21-04 sitting on the mat. Not a monster but a very welcome fish, as this ends the blank spell. Darren caught the fish on mainlines new grange boilies over a bed of 50 baits hopefully there will be a few more out now this session.
With the maggots being allowed from 1st November session i.e. 31st October and the fry being netted shortly, then I think there will be some big catches soon together with a new lake record.
Lets just hope the fish don’t know winters coming as its 16degrees outside today with 11 degrees forecast at night. The warmest end to October in Shropshire I can ever remember.
If you want to get on the monument next month call us on 01952 463141 or visit our website www.rhfisheries.com and visit catch report for any cancellations.
26th October
Finally the blank spell has been broken. Darren Davies has just landed a 21-04in mint condition from swim 4. Hopefully the first of many as darren caught the fish on a boilie over 50 freebies.
20h October
We have just had our slowest week ever in the autumn with only Luke Edwards landing a fish the only other fish to grace the bank was a foul hooked 31lb mirror.
So what is causing this slow spell? Its either the high air pressure or lack of rain which is causing low oxygen levels.
I am of the opinion it may not be either, as the fish are crashing and very active. I think they may be fry feeding and are preoccupied on them. Also the seagulls arrived on the lake around the same time it went quiet, as though they knew there were stunned fry to eat.
Swim Improvements
Every Wednesday during the winter we will be rebuilding swims 3 to 10 with railway sleepers. This will give them a better appearance, shelter from the wind and provide spots toi secure bivvies to.

The Monument is still fishing a little unpredictable due to the continued dry weather, which is meaning lower oxygen levels due to lack of fresh water coming in from the springs. Which is stopping the fish feeding as heavily as they normally would at this time of year, in preparation for the onset of winter. However even with the fishing being tricky we have some success stories with Derek Morris landing the biggest fish of the week and also a new pb for Derek. Stuart Edwards upped the Monuments lake record common this week landing a 29-04. 1 of 6 commons that were netted out during our annual fry de-stocking 3yrs at around 8lbs but as they were such magnificent fish there were left in. With this and 5 other similar sized fish swimming around in the monument it wont be long before its producing 30lb+ commons also. As mentioned last week I feel that as soon as this weather does break there will be a few of the big girls out as they are all due! Also please note that a list of available dates for the remainder of the year will be posted on our website so please check and call us on 01952 463141 if you would like to book any of these dates.

29th September
The monument has been fishing hard with this big lump of high pressure sitting over us at the minute. However the monument has still produced 11 fish this week with the best fish and most caught falling to Luke Edward’s who landed 4 fish 2 of which were 30’s upto 32-00. Luke fished swim 6 and baited heavily with just boilies around 5kg and just kept topping up his swim after every fish. Luke said he felt his approach worked as the fish needed to feel confident and by putting so much bait out they could feed on a lot more freebies before getting hooked. Also a point to be noted is that in previous seasons immediately after a hard spell is the time a lot of the big fish get caught, so the guys that are booked on in the next few weeks could catch some real biggies!
22nd September
It was a quiet week at the monument, the consistent hot weather has made conditions difficult. Only 13 fish were landed last week with 5 over 30lb.
Monument regular and Mr nice guy Roy Field had a brace of 30’s weighing 32-04 and 32-06 and they were absolute stunners. Roy was fishing from his favorite swim 7 using cell boilies.
Darren Davis had 5 of the fish last week fishing swim 6 using cell boilies and between himself and his fishing partner they put in over 15kg of boilies, Darren’s best fish was 30-03.
Also amongst the 30’s was Simon Wilson with a 30-06 and Lee Cooper with a 31-08.
Darren’s tactics are also working for Luke Edwards who as I write is mid session and catching and has already put in over 10kgs of cell boilies.
My tip for this autumn is to use orange tutti frutti boilies, as the yellow corn tactics seem to have blown. But this week an angler in swim 3 landed a fish on orange corn so I reckon the classic orange tutti fruttis would work well.
I also predict we will get some big catches soon as after a quiet spell they are hungry and catchable when they come back on the feed.
15th September
The consistent spell has ended the hot weather we have been experiencing has stopped the fish feeding very heavily and the fishery is very unpredictable at the moment.
I think is has been consistently hot for so long the carp were thinking of spawning again! September hard to believe but true. I have just photographed Darren Davis with a 26-00 which was milting on the mat.
However last week there were still 18 fish landed with the best falling to Charlie Blackley with a 38-08 and a 30-08. Also amongst the 30’s were Stuart Edward’s 30-02 and Mark Wilkinson 31-13.
Boilies are still the top bait with cell the going bait at the moment also the SBS M1 is starting to produce again in conjunction with a corn popper to add buoyancy and visibility.
As I write monument regular Roy Field is mid session in his favorite swim 7 and has already landed a 32-04 and a 32-06. We will find out his tactics and pass them onto you.
Bookings for 2010 are going incredibly well so if you want to get on the monument give us a call on 01952 463141.
Web updating
The web will now not be updated again until 14th September as i am going away on my holidays
regards Sam

1st September
As I write the bookings for 2010 have just opened and it has been unbelievable! The demand for swims has surpassed previous years so if you want to fish the monument in 2010 then call us ASAP.
Also this August has seen the fishery produce an amazing amount of 30’s with some sessions producing more 30’s than 20’s and only this weekend from 12 fish landed the average weight was 31-07.
The best fish amongst 5 x 30’s that was landed 35-14 by John Duckers from swim 9 on boilies, John also landed a 31-10 and a 26-00. The week produced 33 fish of which 11 fish were over 30lb.
The biggest falling to monument regular Luke Edwards with a 39-10 mirror called ‘Pinscale’ on PP60 boilies excellent 5 fish catches were made by Charlie Blackley from swim 3 on cell boilies Charlie’s catch included a 34-04.
Also mid session already today Dave Walker has landed 5 fish from the unpopular swim 10 upto 32-00 fishing boilie over spod mix down the margin towards the willows.
27lb Common
The fish caught by Clinton Jones on 24th August is a fish thatwas spawned in the monument and is one of 6 commons netted and returned nearly 3 years ago at 8-10lb.
Its the first capture we know of so there should be 6 new 30lb commons coming through soon.
25th August
36 fish out in a week!!
The Monument is fishing really well at the moment, this unsettled weather has really kept the fish on the feed. Boilies are doing the business with mainline cell being the top bait. PP60 and SBS Lobworm boilies used in conjunction with the Lobworm overspary are also catching.
Charlie Blackley has been on for 2 consecutive sessions but on 2 separate swims and caught over 10 fish in this time of which 3 have been 30lb+ up to 36-04. Another story that I feel is worthy of a mention is young angler Ryan Drake who has come for the first time for a 16th birthday present and caught a 21-10 and a new Pb of 26-00.
My tip now would be to use trout/fish meal pellets as we feed them on a Wednesday and not many anglers are using them with boilies over the top.
18th August
The monument is still producing astounding numbers of 30’s with 8 different 30’s out last week alone. The biggest fish of the week falling to Tony Reed at 36-04, we also had several guys having multiple catches the most notable is Tim Reeves who fished the monument for the first time last weekend when he managed to get on due to a cancellation. He fished the sometimes tricky swim 1 and landed his first fish and a new Pb of 28-00 within 20mins of casting in. Tim then went on to catch another 2x 20’s and a double before ending his session with another new Pb of 30-01.
The tactics that the most of the successful anglers are using is very similar spodding a bed of mixed particle corn and boilies out at the start of the session. Then not casting in for a couple of hours so as to allow the fish to feed more confidently with no lines in the water. The swim can then be topped up during the session by just using a throwing stick to spread out 100 to 200 boilies over each rod after every fish.
2010 BOOKINGS
Bookings for 2010 are being taken from sept 1st at 8am to book please phone or call in, in person.
I would suggest coming prepared with all your dates for the year and making 1 large booking so as to avoid dissapointment.
11TH aUGUST
With the weather being so hot and bright last week it wasn’t the best of fishing conditions however on the Monday/Tuesday session of last week it fished brilliantly with 16 fish landed. 5 of those being 30lb plus fish this is excellent number of 30’s for this time of year we believe that at least 1 in 3 fish is 30+ now so with a stock of 300 fish you are looking at the monument containing over 100 30lb + fish.
James miles had 4 fish 2 of which were 30’s. Also Monday regular Roy Field had 3 fish upto 30-08.
Another notable capture was by Tim Atherton, who fished for just a day after calling up on the off chance of a cancellation and landed 3 fish.
7th August
Due to unpaid deposits we have a few free spaces during August :
17th - 18th swims 10 and 11
20th - 21st swims 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15
27th - 28th swim 14
31st - 1st september swims 4, 10, 11
to book any of these dates please call us on 01952 463141 asap
4th August
The monument has been producing a lot of 30’s for the time of year. Last week alone there were 6 30’s out. Marcus Brotherton who fished both weekday sessions landed 5 fish 2 of which were 30lb plus the best being 34-04. To catch all these fish Marcus spodded out a large amount of bait he told us he used 15kg of hemp 2-3 kg of corn and 5kg of boilies in his spod mix and also throughout the session catapulted another 5kg of boilies around his baited area.
Marcus’s believes that putting a big bed of bait down is important but his tip to help you catch more is to leave your swim for 2 or 3 hours after you have baited up before casting in to build the fishes confidence up.
Cancelation
Due a cancaeltaion we have swims free for this monday tuesday session 3rd and 4th August to book please call us on 01952 463141
28th July
The Monument still appears to be fishing tricky at the moment but out of the 22 fish landed last week 6 were caught by just 2 anglers in 1 36hr session so they must have been doing something right. Rich and Steve Handley fished swims 5 and 6 last Monday / Tuesday session and landed 6 fish 3 of which were over 30lb the best being a new 40 weighing in at 41-00.
They fished fairly simple mono hooklink’s with cell boilies tipped with corn on the hair and large amounts of boilies baited around.
27th July
The Monument is fishing tricky at the moment. The fishery is very coloured and the fish are definately feeding heavily on something, I am not sure what! Could be snails or even fry.
There were just 5 out at the weekend upto 34-00 and only 1 off thur/fri session.
Most captures are falling to PP60 boilies and SBS M1 freezer boilies.
Maybe hemp could do the trick, although as i write Marcus has just landed a 31-02 from swim 13 on corn over lots of corn and PP60
SBS Bait Edges
We have just recieved a lot of new stock from SBS to give you the edge when fishing we have the full range of M1 and ACE Lobworm bait edges ranging from popups, paste and wafter hookbaits to bag mix, "spod juice" and hookbait overspray.
We also have some extra range from SBS' Corn poopers range inclung the poppers, sinkers,a ranging size of pellet and a corn booster dip.
Feel free next time your passing or your fishing the momument to pop in the office and have a look.
13th July
After saying the monument was fishing tricky, the fishery produced 15 fish with 4 x 30's upto 34lb at the weekend also an upper 30 was landed but foul hooked andI saw a 30lost at the net.
So they just seem to have moved onto the bait, unless it is air pressure that is dictacting the feeding habits, as also this weekendthe avenue went chocolatewith fishfeeding.
99% of the monument fish were caught on boilies.
RH
10th July
The Monument has been fishing tricky of late. I think due to the large amount of natural food at the moment with lots of snails and all the fry abpout. This problem has been over come by a few anglers who have not been afraid to put in large beds of bait. Max cottis and John Cooper fished on monday tuesday and had 4 fish and lost 2 between themand to achieve this they put in nearly 40kgs of bait over the session.
RH
7th July
The monument has been fishing steadily the last week with 26 fish out during the week. The best fish being a 34-02 caught by Nev Roscoe. Also into the 30’s last week was Monument Regular Roy Field with a 32-02.
Tactics that are working at the moment are beds of boilies with a critically balanced hook bait.
Cancaelation
Due to a cancelation we have 2 swims for this thur - fri session to book please call us on 01952 463141
Cancelation on Weston
We have a cancellation for the boathouse for 1 week 2nd – 9th August for 2 anglers and 2 non-fishing guests. If interested call us on 01952 463141.
30th June
Considering the conditions the monument has fished well producing 26 fish for the week with 6 over 30lb Mark Pearson had the best at 34-00 from swim 15 together with another mirror of 30-00.
Boilies are catching nearly all the fish now, with SBS M1, Mainline Cell and PP60 being the best baits. Some anglers are fishing hard on the bottom over spod mix. Others are catching on balanced baits and popups.
Despite the fish having spawned the amount of 30’s being caught is incredible, this week there have been 8 x 30’s caught. If you are looking to catch your first 30 or 40 then the monument is the place with over 80 different 30’s in 8 acres with fish upto 49-08.
The bookings for 2010 open on Sept 1st call us on 01952 463141.
23rd June
The fish have been feeding well upon reopening with fish up to 37-02 landed by Micheal Clarke who landed a further 3 fish to upper 20’s. Micheal was fishing beds of boilies with a boilie tipped with corn on the hook. Interestingly the 37-02 was caught last November 2007 at 33-00 Rob Hales.
The fish are noticeably tired so shortly after spawning so fresh water on the mat and allowing at least 5minutes for the fish to recover in the net, before being lifted out to be weighed and photographed. Heightened fish care is essential for the next few weeks on all waters.
16th June
The fish did actually start spawning on the first of June so we got lucky there. Also we have re built swims 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 with drainage on all swims except swim 15 to ensure the swims stay dry in the winter, also in the sleepers at the back of the swims we have located hooks to tie bivvies down to in the winter.
During the 2 weeks we closed we fed the fish 100kgs of pellet per day except the last Friday. The first weekend produced 22 fish upto 35-00 and already mid way through this session we have had 12 fish off. Most of the fish are falling to beds of boilies whole and chopped and corn.
Swim Improvments
During the close period we improved some of the swims by digging drainage to prevent them becoming muddy in winter and also pinned some of the backs of the swims, so all the swims are looking fantastic. Our swims are designed to fit 1 man bivys comfortably and at a squeeze a 2 man Please note also all bivys must be pitched on the swims not on the grass next to the swim.
10th June
The Monument reopens on Saturday 13th June!
The lake looks fantastic and the fish are back on the feed bigtime! They have had 100kgs of pellet a day.
Apologies for not answering the calls we have ben on the fishery rebuilding swims 11,12,13,14,15
Hope to see you soon.
Bookings 2010
Due to anglers requesting to be able to make plans for their fishing holidays for 2010 we will take bookings for the Open Access on both Acton lakes and Weston from now onwards. However for any Monument bookings or for just the boathouse bookings they will be from September 1st as usual.
19th May
The monument produced 29 fish last week. The best being a 36-08 caught by Kirk Marsden from swim 9. Also another good catch was by John Smart from swim 11 he came first thing and baited up with 2kg of boilies on the first day of the session but then had to go off to work. So couldn’t fish until the evening, within 5 minutes of casting out he had a run, and lost it and by the end of the session John ended up with 2 x 30lb+ fish.
The tactics that seem to be working at the moment for the consistent catchers are beds of bait, people are baiting up with corn or boilies and putting in anything from just half a kilo up to 2-3 kilos and topping up the feed after every fish. We have just had possibly 1 of the best sessions as well with several 30’s and a 40 landed by just one angler, the full write up on this will be in next weeks report.
11th May
The monument produced 19 fish last week, the best fish was a fish know as the cream fish at a weight of 40-13 by Andy Colley out of swim 8. All the swims at that end of the lake seem to be fishing well at the moment especially the usually unpopular swims 10 and 11. Also a fish to mention is a 39-00 which was caught by a rig trailing this is due to the use of leaders more and more. We are strongly recommending now that angler’s fish mainline straight to the hooklink with tubing instead of leaders to try and prevent this problem as at the moment it seems to be happening more and more.
The tactics that seem to be working at the minute is either fishing boilies with just boilies as loose feed or fish boilie and corn with whole and chopped boilies and corn as loose feed.
4th May
Another good week at The Monument with 30 fish landed for the week with a 37-08 landed by Mick Pink from Swim 7, including another 30 weighing 32-00 and five twenties, Mick caught all his fish on maize over a bed of maize. Also Max Cottis and Marc Coulson visited us this week for a feature on the fishery and landed 15 fish between them from swims 11 & 12. Tactics will be detailed in the feature but cell boilies 10mm did the business.
Peter Hayes landed his first 30 this week weighing 30-02 from swim 8, again boilies did the business. Also Mike Graves had 6 fish, all twenties up to 27-04 also on cell boilies. Various boilies and chopped boilies catching most of the fish at the moment - PP60, M1 and cell the best catchers.
28th April
Max Cottis and Marc Coulson fished this session for and article in Total Carp. Between them they had 12 fish see picture gallery for some of the pictures, the rest should folllow!
24th April
This session has produced 9 fish up to 31-00 that bring the total number of 30's in the last 3 sessions to 13 that is an amazing amount and due to this high number from this week we are guessing there cold be at the moment over 100 30lb+ fish in the monument.
The fish have been coming off boiies on the bottom over beds of bait this session!
20TH aPRIL
The monument goes mad! 2 Anglers land 7 x 30’s in a session Rich Lampitt landed 30-6, 31-08, 34-00 and a 35-08. Together with 25-10 , 27-00, 27-04, 22-04, 20-02, 20-08 all in a 36hr session.
Also Martin Evans landed 3 x 30s weighing 30-08, 30-12, and 32-04 from swim 13.
There were another 8 big 20’s off all in 36hrs.
There is a big snail hatch on the monument, and the carp are pre-occupied on them as they come up in the water towards the surface, and there are so many you can see them washing up in the margins! So black zigs have done the damage. When they do get their heads down if guys have put in a big bed of bait a few were landed on sweetcorn and PP60 boilies.
We are planning to introduce SBS Lobworm and PP60 boilies on Wednesday’s to get them back on the bait.
13th April
The fish are now in full feeding mode, and well and truely on the bait.
The following fish came off last sesion alone:
29-10, 28-10, 23-00, 26-06, 30-14, 25-00, 30-14, 25-10, 31-12.
The highlight being monument regular Terry Holland Fishing swim 10 on a cancelation fairplay to Terry as its a tough peg bur he proved they can be caught from there by landing a 30-14.
Boilies are now the top bait with pineapple popups and SBS corn poppers fished over the bait working well. Also on the hot still days zig rigs are still working.
10th April
The fish seem to be switching on to boilies with this steady constant weather with most of the fish of late being caught on a variety of boilies from spicy shrimp and prawn to cell!!
