The Avenue
The History
The Avenue is located in the grounds of my own home. It was dug in the late 17th century as a pool to provide ice for the ice house. In 2007, permission was granted to extend the Avenue, major excavation and landscaping was undertaken to create the wonderful 10.2 acre lake that is now the Avenue.
We also received planning approval to open the Avenue to the public, like the Monument. However, for the time being the Avenue is being operated as a syndicate only, and we have no plans to change in the forseeable future.
Fact File
The Avenue is now a beautiful lake, that is 10.2 acres in size. It has seventeen purpose built swims, and there is approximately 160 carp present with the current lake record being 49-08, a fish which was only 36lb less than two years ago. The Avenue fish are still very young and are of the highest quality and they are growing fast, so I expect the lake record to keep moving up.
Facilities
The Avenue boasts 5 star facilities which include a luxury log cabin that features shower, toilet, bedroom, kitchen TV room and chest freezer, together with a seperate toilet/shower block at the far end of the lake. There is a 4x4 mule and trailer for the syndicate to get their tackle to and from the swims.
Objectives
The Avenue is managed with the sole purpose of growing the carp as big as possible, we have already de-stocked 42 fish to make sure the biggest fish always have plenty of room to keep growing, and we will keep de-stocking in the future. The syndicate only use freezer boilies and pellets to ensure the carp get only the best bait.
